After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the actor who played Gamora, Zoe Saldana, declared her departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Director James Gunn has hinted that the third Guardians movie will be the final appearance of at least some of the characters fans have come to love.
After an expected goodbye in Guardians 3, Dave Bautista (AKA Drax) has also announced his departure from the MCU.
Gamora wants to change her character, according to Saldana, if she returns after Guardians of the Galaxy 3. Furthermore, she states that she “wouldn’t be upset” if she decided not to see Gamora.
The Marvel actor’s departure has now been officially announced.

Zoe Saldana leaves the MCU
Zoe Saldana announced that she is leaving Marvel and her role as Gamora in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Although Saldana said, “It’s the end for me, for Gamora,” she’s not sure about the other team members:
“I don’t think this is the demise of the Guardians. It’s the end of Gamora and me.
Guardians of the Galaxy series director James Gunn nearly killed Gamora in Vol. 2, and Saldana did not plan to continue the role beyond the first film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
On the last day of filming Gamora, Saldana said an emotional goodbye to Gunn and thanked him for all the things he had done for her over the years:
“I just thanked James for his time, patience, guidance, and friendship.”
Saldana expressed her appreciation for the director with words, but her actions after Marvel initially dumped Jon also showed her support for him. The Hollywood Reporter claims that Saldana directly discussed bringing him back to Marvel management.
Is Gamora’s future in Guardians 3 horrible?
Fans may be wondering if Gamora will see a second death in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 given that Zoe Saldana announced that her relationship with the character is over.
It’s possible the character might appear after the third Guardians movie, though Saldana suggested a different cast.
Fans know that Guardians 3 will be an emotional and heartbreaking farewell. Gamora is likely one of them.
Given that the actor who plays Drax has announced his retirement and Rocket’s future has been hinted at in promotional materials, those two options seemed the most logical so far.
Gamora, whose first death occurred in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018, could face another death if the same logic that applies to Drax is used.
If this happens, seeing the team come to terms with losing Gamora twice would add another heartbreaking scene to the already sad movie.
