Ryan Coogler, who directed Black Panther 2, talked about the two scenes that had to be added to the sequel to save it from becoming the “worst movie ever.”
After striking the ideal balance between paying tribute to Chadwick Boseman and moving the plot of the movie forward, Black Panther 2 won broad praise.
Even while it was generally believed that the final cut of Black Panther 2 satisfied everyone, there are still various scenes that were rejected, including one that involved Okoye and featured Riri Williams in an Iron Man-inspired subplot.
More information concerning a different version of the movie has now surfaced.

Two Significant Scenes from Black Panther 2 are Revealed by Ryan Coogler
The opening United Nations scene starring Angela Bassett’s Queen Ramonda and the Dora Milaje action scene starring Danai Gurira’s Okoye were both cut from the sequel, according to director Ryan Coogler, who discussed this during the audio commentary for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
I’ll let you in on a humorous secret. With this film, we tried a lot of different things. The U.N. sequence and the opening Dora Milaje combat scene were two parts that, at one point, we explored removing from the film. We simply said, “Yeah, it’ll work without it because X, Y, and Z.”
The MCU director, who noted that they were required for the sequel to function, nevertheless disclosed that leaving those two scenes out made it the “worst movie ever,” calling it:
“And I recall that I arrived at the office at 6 am to watch it because I wanted to see it in its entirety before we tested it with the scenes in place. And when we hit play, I was watching it, and, you know what I’m saying, it was the worst movie ever.”
Coogler was so concerned about the movie’s condition that he urgently called Wakanda Forever producer Nate Moore to correct it before the test screening started:
“Oh, this is dreadful, I thought. At one point, at 6:45 a.m., I was standing up in the screening room by myself and just making phone calls to everyone, including Nate [Moore], to say, “Yo, this is a mistake.” We must address this. However, it takes a while to realize how crucial these two scenes are to the overall success of the picture.
Why the Opening Scenes of Black Panther 2 Worked
The two opening moments of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which feature Okoye and Queen Ramonda, establish the tone of the sequel while demonstrating just how powerful Wakanda is even without the Black Panther as its defender.
Fans could have questioned why other countries were so determined to persuade Wakanda to give its vibranium if the aforementioned sequences had been cut and the focus had instead been on Namor and the Talokans’ assault on the humans.
Additionally, the dramatic action scene with Dora Milaje confirmed the brutality that Wakanda can exhibit when pushed, serving as a reminder to the world that they are a nation that should not be trifled with.
The director of Black Panther 2 Ryan Coogler was correct when he said that the sequel would have been the “worst movie ever” without those two scenes since they showed Wakanda’s power before their final battle with Talokan, another formidable foe, in the movie’s closing minutes.
