With new images, Jessica Jones Star Fuels MCU Return Rumors

Krysten Ritter of Jessica Jones recently shared photos of herself working out in the gym amid reports that she would make a comeback in Daredevil: Born Again.

Many people are speculating about what the future holds for the rest of the Defenders crew now that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil is back in the spotlight thanks to Born Again along with a number of surprise characters. One of the most talked-about characters is Jessica Jones, played by Krysten Ritter, who, like Daredevil, starred in three seasons of her own Netflix series.

According to earlier rumors, Cox’s Daredevil will be looking for Ritter’s Jessica Jones in Echo, preparing the way for her comeback in Born Again. However, recent speculations suggest Jones would be replaced, possibly by Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, due to Ritter’s scheduling issues, which may have put an end to such rumors.

Naturally, that caused conversation to stop, but a recent selfie from the actress—who appears to have recently finished filming on her lone ongoing movie, Orphan Black: Echoes—resuscitated rumors of her impending return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On January 4, Jessica Jones actress Krysten Ritter posted a number of images to her Instagram account (tweeted by @DDBA BRA). The picture fueled speculation that she would make a comeback to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Daredevil: Born Again or another upcoming film.

Ritter wore a Daredevil t-shirt with the words “Choose Justice” and the iconic superhero emblem in this most recent collection of photos, despite spending the majority of 2022 posting footage from the gym.

Jessica Jones could be a “surprise character” in Daredevil, expressed @Perfectshots247 in response to the pictures: Born I’ll reiterate that the majority of the prior MCU Disney+ shows have included an unexpected cameo character:

“Please make her the show’s “surprise character” YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS (every Marvel series has one). Because Jessica Jones is in the DD and the other Netflix shows can be used, I prefer her to the Punisher because the Punisher can be introduced in other projects.”

The Hollywood Handle also posted Ritter’s selfies, mentioning that Born Again production will start in February of next year:

“Krysten Ritter shared a video of herself working out in a Daredevil T-shirt on her Instagram story. In one month, “DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN” will begin filming…”

Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist from the Netflix Marvel series could all have their original actors return, according to @TheNerdSaga’s prediction:

Let’s face it, Mike, Krysten, and Finn are portraying Luke, Jessica, and Danny as they all return.

@vesoludiq raised the possibility that Jessica Jones would return in addition to Daredevil but not his Netflix sidekicks Foggy Nelson and Karen Paige:

Imagine Jessica Jones returning, but without Karen and Foggy.

From August to December 2022, Ritter was supposed to film Orphan Black: Echoes in Toronto, Canada. The actress presently doesn’t have any publicly known projects slated to film soon, as that series has probably ended.

Be clear that Krysten Ritter hasn’t abandoned her fitness routine since Jessica Jones ended; she’s continued to post about her workouts on Instagram for the past few years, and additional paparazzi photos have also captured her working out. What about this most recent scenario, then, makes it so suggestive of an eventual MCU return?

For starters, it’s strange that Ritter was observed working out in a Daredevil t-shirt only a few weeks before Daredevil : Born Again began filming in February. Even while it’s possible that she just picked up this item as a fan or while working for Netflix, the speculations of her connection add to the intrigue.

Of course, a source indicated that Jessica Jones’ part in Echo and Daredevil : Born Again would be replaced because of Ritter’s scheduling issues. However, given that Born Again will shoot from February to December, that job appears to be open for an MCU role and might start filming at any point this year, at least based on what is currently known to the public.

Why is it necessary to reintroduce the Defenders in Daredevil: Born Again?

The Defenders’ return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been hotly anticipated by fans ever since the Marvel Netflix universe concluded in 2019. When Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the Daredevil resurgence across several Disney+ films was finally made possible.

Without a doubt, Daredevil was both the most well-liked and well-known figure of the Netflix cast even before his own show debuted. That makes him the ideal frontman to lead the Defenders and the Punisher’s comeback, which Born Again very well may achieve over the course of its 18-episode season.

This could aid in the repopularization of those lesser-known Defenders characters and their reintroduction to the larger MCU thanks to the massive amount of viewers that Born Again is sure to attract. And now that Daredevil has encountered characters like She-Hulk, Hulk, and Spider-Man, he is able to bring these commoners along for upcoming crossovers.
