Amid worldwide anticipation for The Amazing Spider-Man 3, Andrew Garfield anticipated what the future holds for his Spider-Man.
Garfield may have two of the three lowest-rated Spider-Man films on Rotten Tomatoes, but his Amazing Spider-Man received a resurgence of popularity alongside his Multiversal return in No Way Home.
The Spider-Man crossover event spawned a viral attempt to resurrect the abandoned The Amazing Spider-Man 3, despite Sony’s decision to release the film in conjunction with Marvel Studios.
Andrew Garfield Teases Spider-Man’s Future
Amazing Spider-Man star Andrew Garfield teased what happened to Peter 3 after the multiverse in the official Spider-Man: No Way Home art book, according to Spider-Man News.
The British actor described how the events of No Way Home “changed the life” of his Peter Parker and “reinvigorated” him as a hero:
“He changed his life. He returns knowing that he has brothers. He returns, re-inspired to pursue his destiny, his vocation, and his meaning of existence. He has to compensate for a terrible catastrophe that he tried to avoid “. in his world. Capturing MJ”.
Peter 3 is “incredibly reinvigorated” and “blown away” when he returns to his reality, MJ says of Garfield Zendaya. He expressed the importance of being able to avoid diving to your death from the top of the Statue of Liberty:
“If MJ hadn’t been in the world of Peter 1, he might have met the same fate as Gwen.” In that sense, his existence had a purpose. And surely he will return with his mind on the cosmos, the cosmos, string theory, and multi-dimensions. He will return fully revived.”
Garfield teased what the future might hold, saying “The story will never end” regardless of whether it makes it to the big screen:
“Whether we film or not, the story never ends.” A story is being told somewhere in space. This character and all variations of it have limitless possibilities. So of course he is doing something there.
Citing his visual appeal and practicality, he described why he believed his “suit was the best”, but stated that “no suit is that much fun to wear”:
“My eyes are definitely huge. A very wide-eye shape, attractive and, I don’t know, sweet. I would also say my dress is huge because I can get my arms in because there are zippers on the wrists. You get extra opportunities. But any dress is really fun to use.”No, almost all of them are hard.”
Garfield previously told Josh Horowitz’s Happy Chat Confused podcast that he is “definitely open” to returning if he is “very unique [and] very special” with a purpose for the audience and the character.

Will Sony make The Amazing Spider-Man 3?
After fans fell in love with Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man all over again with No Way Home, there were new calls to revive the previously planned The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man 4 to continue the stories of the two previous wall-crawlers.
Garfield revealed in March that he had no updates on The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and that he had “no plans” for its future. However, in both situations, the singer insisted that he lied about his return to No Way Home and became “the boy who cried wolf”.
There has been no mention of the possibility of bringing Garfield back as Spider-Man for a third solo outing, Avengers: Secret Wars, or any other future projects. However, the actor described a hypothetical crossover with Tom Hardy’s Venom as a “fantastic idea”, suggesting that he could return to Sony’s Spider-Man universe.
The company is currently working on Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4, the third animated Spider-Verse and a spinoff movie of the Spider-Man villain. So far, that spin-off universe has struggled to gain traction, and if it continues, it could force Sony to look at alternative ways to capitalize on its Marvel IP.
Apparently, Sony isn’t averse to running multiple webheads at once, with Holland’s Spider-Man slated to continue the animated Spider-Verse and live-action Miles Morales. Maybe Garfield’s Spider-Man can be sent back in a big way one day.
After all, as the actor himself noted, No Way Home set up a fascinating new chapter for the wall-crawler, whose days he was eager to “stop throwing [his] punches” and get back to his old self.
The Amazing Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are currently available on Disney+.
