Unexpected Deleted Scenes for Ant-Man 3 Are Announced

Ant-Man 3, the most recent theatrical installment of the MCU, has a surprising number of deleted scenes, according to Marvel Studios.

Phase 5 of the MCU began with Ant-Man 3 in February, and its digital release on April 18 will happen just a few weeks after the threequel struggled to do well critically and commercially in theaters.

Many scenes from the film’s first set of home releases are now available for viewing. Some of these scenes were previously unknown thanks to cast and crew interviews conducted when the threequel was still playing in theaters.

Only two deleted scenes will be included in the Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania home release, according to Disney.

The new Quantum Realm hero Veb, who is portrayed in this film by David Dastmalchian in his second MCU role, will appear in both of these scenes.

The scenario where Scott Lang is first captured by the freedom fighters and consumes the ooze that enables him to converse with them will be expanded upon.

Drink The Ooze – Scott Lang drank the ooze apprehensively as he entered the Quantum Realm.
The other focuses on Veb’s realization that he is shot during the decisive battle and that he has holes in him.

I Have Holes – Veb is quite happy to finally have holes, and he shows it.
With how many significant scrapped moments from the cast and crew have already come to light, fans weren’t anticipating just two deleted sequences with Ant-Man 3’s home media release.

A scene in Ant-Man 3 that depicted Hope van Dyne spending time with a family and almost gave Evangeline Lilly’s real-life kid a chance to shine was ultimately removed.

This scene, according to Jeff Loveness, was “Hope’s take on the Multiverse,” and it might appear again in a subsequent Avengers film:

“Hope’s viewpoint on the multiverse, possibilities, and other issues was also present. So, you never know what might make a future appearance in an Avengers film, but I won’t reveal too much more. Even though I’m content with what we currently have, there is always room for improvement in the three-hour Loveness cut. Maybe one day you’ll see it.”

Janet van Dyne’s abilities, which originally appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp and ultimately confused viewers who saw them in the test screenings for Ant-Man 3: Resurrection, were another element of the film that was cut.

“Janet certainly had healing abilities, but I perceived them to be less healing and more along the lines of, “Well, she also possesses some inter-dimensionality phasing, and she was able to almost like stabilize Ava.” We created that. That was present, and I believe that it merely confused the audience during our test screenings, who asked, “Wait, she has phasing powers?”

Loveness also explored further Kang the Conqueror material that was ultimately cut, which would have further developed his past in the third Ant-Man film:

“Lots of things. One, in particular, contains a little more backstory for Kang, which I believe would be more suited for “Avengers.” Where he is going, where he has been, and such things.”

Will More Deleted Scenes from Ant-Man 3 Be Released?

While numerous scenes from Ant-Man 3 were cut or changed to make the plot flow more smoothly, it doesn’t seem that Marvel is planning to release many of those scenes at this time.

Unknown if this is a result of the unfavorable criticism Ant-Man 3 has received since its debut, but given that recent Marvel films have tended to be shorter in duration, there may not be much further to show.

David Dastmalchian told The Direct about his own background that he created for his new hero outside of what was presented on the big screen, which is far from the only Veb material fans weren’t able to view.

But given the abundance of other storylines emerging from different parts of the Multiverse Saga, it might be some time before this threequel is brought back, especially given the fact that Kang is still hiding in plain sight.

The digital release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which is currently playing in theaters, is scheduled for April 18th.
