Recently, there was a sad announcement regarding the release date of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
One of the biggest cliffhangers in modern pop culture comes at the end of the second installment in the trilogy, Across the Spider-Verse. Miles Morales is trapped in the wrong realm and his own perverted variant is taken over as the credits roll.
The wait for the resolution of this twist was not long, March 29, 2024, to be exact, which was readily accepted by many. Unfortunately, it looks like fans will have to wait a bit longer than expected.
A possible delay for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse
According to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter, the highly anticipated animated conclusion to the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse series could be postponed.
In an article giving a quick update on plans scheduled for a 2024 release, the statement said: “Before the strike, that is likely to change:”
However, the animated movies scheduled to be released in 2024 are likely to be in the production stage, where the actors will need to record the film’s final dialogue. Movies slated for release in 2024 include Kung Fu Panda 4 (March 8), Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse (which may already be slipping, even before the strike), Despicable Me 4 (March 3, July), and Transformers. One (September 13).
This is not the first time that the development of the film has been made public.
Gwen Stacy’s voice actress, Hailee Steinfeld, has said that she did not provide any voice beyond that.
According to an unnamed person who spoke to The Eagle, the only work that was completed on the third sequel were “studies or tests that were done before the movie was split into two parts:”
Released in March 2019, well past the Spider-Verse release date. People have been heard to exclaim, “Oh, they must have worked at the same time.” So the movie won’t be released. On the pre-production side, there is development. But as far as the production side is concerned, the third film has only done research or experiments before the film splits into two parts.

Miles Morales will have to wait a long time
Hearing that there hasn’t been any development on the film thus far is quite depressing.
If that is the case, it may take considerably longer than anyone anticipated to get the third and final movie. Is the production time for Beyond going to be the same as the five years it took the creatives to accomplish Across the Spider-Verse?
One would think Sony Pictures would have known when they initially announced the second movie would be broken into two parts that it would take considerably longer to finish.
Despite this encouraging update, Peter B. Jake Johnson, who plays Parker, has publicly stated that the creative team “aren’t going to stop until it’s great…[and even that] will take a while.”
Considering the caliber of the previous two movies, fans shouldn’t have a problem convincing everyone involved. However, there is no denying that the high expectations for the climax of the franchise are not in this world.
The current Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse release date is March 29, 2024.
