The film’s director, Jon Watts, in his book Spider-Man: No Way Home – The Art of the Movie, acknowledged what audiences have long believed about the film’s ending: that it ends at the beginning.

According to Watts, the concept for the third film was “always how to [do] something” that audiences had “never seen before with Peter Parker:”

“When we were shooting ‘Homecoming,’ there were constant conversations about how we could do something unique with Peter Parker that would take you down different paths and encourage you to do things like reveal your identity to your best friend’s aunt. And at the same time, at the end of the last movie, the whole world is.

According to him, “[they] really took [their] time” in reporting the “origin story” of Tom Holland’s Spidey after the entire trilogy essentially consisted of three movies.

At the end of the film, Marvel Studios’ head of visual development Ryan Meinerding said he was “very excited” to design Peter’s new costume, which the protagonist will wear in his upcoming wall-scaling feats.

After three movies and a few team-ups with the Avengers, the MCU now has a “full Spider-Man“: the artist noted that the overall style was “slightly influenced” by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s costumes.

Tom Holland’s first six appearances in the MCU are essentially the longest live-action origin story for the character, making this particular interpretation of the hero quite unique.

It would be very depressing if this was his last chance. Fortunately, that is not the case.

Despite Tom Holland returning for Spider-Man 4, production on the highly anticipated sequel has been put on hold as a result of two strikes currently affecting the movie business.

While no official release date has been set, recent sources indicate that the next volume will arrive on July 27, 2025, definitely without any delays.

Many Spider-Man 4 fans especially believe that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil and Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin will be included in some form. Fans are still guessing what Spider-Man 4 will focus on.

While others are calling for Miles Morales to be introduced to the entire MCU, Donald Glover’s presence as Prowler in Spider-Verse serves as an important first step.
