Spider-Verse 2, the latest animated hit from Sony Pictures, will soon be available online for fans to watch from home.
Spider-Verse 2 broke Sony’s box office records and became one of the biggest hits of 2023, ranking fifth behind Fast X, Barbie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
The anticipation for fans wanting to revisit this most recent animated adventure followed an unpleasant twist that primed fans to find out what happens in the next Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Spider-Verse 2 Online Release Date
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will be available for fans to purchase digitally on Tuesday, August 8 before arriving on Blu-ray on September 5. Sony Pictures released a 59-second video announcing this.
After Spider-Verse 2 became available for pre-order on Amazon Video in mid-July, with a release date of August 8, Sony recently made this release date official.
Actors Shamac Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Jake Johnson appeared in the video, which hyped up the sequel’s intro and ended with the trio following the “Spider-Man pointing” meme.
The Spider-Verse 2 Blu-ray release includes new features and extras, including a deleted scene with Oscar Isaac starring Miguel O’Hara, an Easter egg hunt, a soundtrack, and a sneak peek. A comprehensive examination of the film’s connections to Marvel Comics’ history.

Sony’s upcoming Spider-Verse 2 projects
Given that Spider-Verse 2 received some of the best reviews of the year, its upcoming online release is sure to turn heads. However, the real question at this point is what Sony has in store for the future.
The studio recently had to rework the release schedule for all of its planned movies due to ongoing writer-actor strikes, delayed the release of Kraven the Hunter by over a year, and gave Spider-Verse 3 no release date.
As ambitious as it is to make a sequel as soon as its predecessor, this unsatisfactory change in release date only exacerbates the problem currently playing out in Hollywood.
Fans are eager to find out how Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy’s journey will end as the universe continues to grow, especially with hundreds of Spider-Man expected to take center stage in the next installment.
However, with no apparent end date for these strikes, that enthusiasm will have to be put on hold as the cast and crew fight for adequate remuneration for their efforts.
On Tuesday, August 8, Spider-Man: Spider-Verse will be available for digital download in its entirety.
