Significant Kang Plot Point Revealed by Kevin Feige in Ant-Man 3

Thanks to none other than Kevin Feige, the creator of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel fans have recently learned additional details about Kang the Conqueror’s last plan in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

As Kang replaces Josh Brolin’s Thanos as the main antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) during the Infinity Saga, Ant-Man 3 will mark the first real step in Kang’s march for Multiversal dominion. Viewers haven’t seen him anywhere close to his peak power yet, but the most recent trailer for the film gave fans a sense of how powerful he’ll be as he tries to fight off Team Ant-Man in the Quantum Realm.

Kang’s level of power was partially demonstrated by recently released promotional material, which displayed the MCU’s interpretation of his iconic Time Chair from the comics. The villain is able to travel through time with this gadget, giving him the power to cause trouble wherever and whenever he pleases in history.

But as of late, that chair seems to be at the heart of the vast narrative that Ant-Man 3 looks to tell, according to Kevin Feige.

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, provided crucial information regarding Kang the Conqueror and his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania in an interview with Empire Magazine.

Kang was “the natural choice,” according to Feige, to tackle the Multiverse notion since the Marvel villain played by Jonathan Major is a distinct kind of antagonist because he’s engaged in a conflict with himself as much as he is with the Marvel universe’s heroes:

“Given that you are working with the Multiverse, he is a natural choice. Kang gave us permission to perform the novel Big Bad. He’s a different kind of evil, fighting both with our heroes and his own kind.”

Feige pointed out that Kang isn’t at his peak in Ant-Man 3, even if he still poses a threat, and that he must find a way to return to it.

The MCU chief then said that the villain’s primary objective in the film is to use Scott Lang and the Pym family to fix his Time Chair so that he can reach any location in time or space in the Multiverse and “travel wherever, and whenever he wants”:

“Kang is a really strong individual, but when we first meet him, he needs to regain that strength. If he can access the internet, he has a ship and a tool that would let him travel whenever and anyplace he wishes. If only he had access to brilliant minds working with Pym particles.

The media site also released a fresh picture of Jonathan Majors from the movie, which depicts Kang sitting in the Time Chair and deciding what to do next:

At the conclusion of the Infinity Saga, when Scott Lang realized he could use Ant-Man Pym’s Particles to aid the Avengers in going back in time to save half the universe in Avengers: Endgame, they arguably became the most significant tool in the MCU.

But while his discovery helped him become one of the most famous heroes in history, it now seems like Kang the Conqueror needs that discovery to become the next major nemesis in the MCU.

Feige’s revelation will probably be relevant in Ant-Man 3’s final scenes when Kang uses his sway on Scott Lang to acquire the Pym Particles he needs to get his Time Chair working once more.

It won’t take long for Ant-Man and the Pyms to grasp the kind of trouble they’re in after agreeing to help Kang with his quest, given how strong he will be once he has this chair back in working order.

This plot point will only become more crucial as Majors Marvel villain uses the chair to travel through the Multiverse, discover his Variants, and wreak havoc on every dimension accessible because the events of Ant-Man 3 directly precede those of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.
