Kingsley Ben-portrayal Adir of the primary Skrull antagonist in Secret Invasion was officially unveiled by Marvel Studios.
The second “crossover event” series in Marvel Studios’ history, Secret Invasion, will be released on Disney+. Earth might be facing one of its biggest threats yet, according to the comics of the same name.
The Skrulls invaded Earth in the comic book plot, replacing everyone in positions of authority with themselves and claiming the world as their new home.
The Skrulls have only ever been depicted as allies in the MCU up until now, most notably in Captain Marvel. Yet as the recognizable extraterrestrial race infiltrates humans in Secret Invasion, fans will soon get to see a very different side of them.

The Skrull villains from Disney+’s secret invasion are revealed.
More information about Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion was revealed by Vanity Fair, including the first official confirmation and information on the Skrull villain Gravik who is the driving force behind the Disney+ series and who is portrayed by Kingsley Ben-Adir from One Night in Miami.
A faction of hardline Skrulls led by Gravik has split off from the Talos-led peaceful shape-shifters that Captain Marvel introduced. The Families of Ben-radicalized Adir’s fanatics are said to be “weary of asking… [and] waiting.”
To “seize the resources they require,” initially through stealth and their shape-shifting abilities, and subsequently through violence, is the motivation behind Gravik’s break from Talos’ faction.
Ben-enemy Adir was previously revealed by Marvel Studios in an image titled “Rebel Skrull leader Gravik” which was made public after D23 2022 and revealed the shape-shifting foe in his actual form.
According to the plot, there are parallels between it and historical accounts of how dispersed populations might fracture when patience and diplomacy run their course.
Talos actor Ben Mendelsohn explained how the conflict between Skrull groups may in some manner be understood to resemble that of “the Cold War stuff:”
“I believe that a corollary can be found whenever there are considerable tensions between different groups of individuals in a civilization. The major point that immediately comes to mind is the Cold War, although there is plenty of conflict between social groupings that this tackles.
Since Skrulls can tolerate radiation, Secret Invasion executive producer Jonathan Schwartz described how Gravik has established his headquarters in “decommissioned radioactive areas within Russia,” where much of the story takes place:
There are several abandoned radioactive sites in Russia, and Skrulls are significantly better at withstanding radiation. Gravik has established his operational base there.
According to a new report from The Cosmic Circus, the Skrulls will be constructing an underground apparatus in one of these places that will require a tremendous amount of power but whose exact function is yet unknown.
The Vanity Fair article also contained some fresh information on Olivia Colman’s character, who “had a past with Nick Fury” and collaborates both with and against him.
The actress will portray Special Agent Sonya Falsworth, “a high-ranking agent in the British Intelligence Service”:
She is a senior member of the British Intelligence Agency and has worked with Nick Fury in the past. While their objectives either coincide or conflict, she sometimes works with Nick Fury and other times against him.
What Plans Do the Skrulls Have for a Covert Invasion?
Many people were surprised to learn that the Skrulls, who are known as a race of monsters in Marvel Comics, are actually peaceful, displaced people in Captain Marvel, which is set in the 1990s. Over time, they even grew to be Nick Fury’s closest buddies, standing in for him and Maria Hill in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
Viewers are going to discover that, like all peoples, there are good and bad Skrulls, with Kingsley Ben-persona Adir’s slated to act as the spokesperson for this new hardline group. Similar to the Secret Invasion comics, this gang will appear to infiltrate people, although this time they’re doing it to acquire materials, perhaps for a mysterious underground contraption.
Returning to Marvel Comics, the central question of Secret Invasion was who was really a Skrull imposter. As Gravik’s soldiers infiltrate Earth, that will undoubtedly be the case in the streaming series as well. Yet with the exception of Don Cheadle’s War Machine, things will be very different this time around sans the Avengers.
The Skrulls’ ultimate purpose in the comics was to conquer Earth and make it their new home, and Kingsley Ben-Gravik Adir might have had a similar goal. But, whatever the Skrulls are purportedly developing appears to be the core of their strategy, and they will probably overthrow authorities to obtain the resources they want.
One probable candidate to be a Skrull imposter based on this plotline among the primary characters revealed for Secret Invasion is Martin Freeman’s, Everett Ross. After all, Ross’ contacts to Wakanda may be able to facilitate that if the Skrulls are seeking sophisticated resources.
