A recent online listing appears to make a strong case for the start of production on Marvel Studios’ Eternals 2.
The first movie, which was helmed by Chloé Zhao, was not well received when it was released last year. In fact, it was the first MCU movie to receive a low rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Fans are nevertheless eager to learn more about the anticipated sequel despite this. The project’s future is uncertain because neither San Diego Comic-Con nor D23 mentioned it earlier this year.
Even the actors who play the characters are unsure of their future plans. However, some people are certain that they’ll come back.
The anticipation for a sequel has now been revived.

Eternals 2: Is It Nearer Than Anyone Thinks?
The management company for Gilgamesh actor Ma Dong-Seok (Don Lee), Big Punch Entertainment, issued a public statement announcing Lee’s upcoming projects for 2023 and beyond. The second Eternals movie is one of the many movies shown.
According to a translated version of the Korean announcement posted on Twitter by Eternals Updates, Lee is currently filming Criminal City 4 before revealing that Eternals 2 is in production “envisioned for production:
“Ma Dong-Seok is in discussion and planning for many of the movies and dramas slated for production in 2019 while production on the drama “Hive” is still uncertain. Ma Dong-Seok is currently filming “Criminal City 4.” In addition to the upcoming releases of “Holy Night: Demon Hunters,” “Wilderness,” and “Criminal City 3,” “Eternals 2″ and other international productions in which he will appear are also scheduled to be made.”
What to Expect from a Family Reunion of Eternals
If Eternals didn’t end up getting a sequel, that would be strange. The movie established so much lore and plot points for the MCU’s future that it seems impossible to skip a sequel.
One plot point that Marvel must address is the fact that a Celestial kidnapped half of the cast of the film. Then there’s Tiamat sticking out of the water, Dane Whitman’s new blade, Arishem’s eventual return for judgment (possibly setting up the MCU’s Galactus), and more.
Of course, this also opens up the possibility of learning more about Eros, also known as Thanos’ brother, who is played by Harry Styles. The newly introduced character will return, as confirmed by Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios. But will it be for an Eternals sequel or for something completely different, like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty?
And then there’s Gilgamesh himself, who would have to be revived if Don Lee were to make a comeback, perhaps with the help of the World Forge. If he is able to return, it will also be possible for Salma Hayek’s Ajak and Richard Madden’s Ikaris to do the same.
Hopefully, Marvel Studios can significantly raise the bar for the eventual sequel. Any object can travel from The Dark World to Ragnarok if Thor can.
