The classic Spider-Man villain has been teased for the upcoming PlayStation 5 game, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
As the beloved wall-crawler is once again tackled by Insomniac Games, fans are eager to see what comes next in the studio’s interpretation of the super-powered Marvel universe.
One of his co-stars claimed that the much-awaited game “looks” like it would release this autumn. This release date is consistent with earlier statements made by the project’s creators, who continue to maintain that Spider-Man 2 will be released in 2023.
Despite being announced almost two years ago, little is known about the PlayStation Adventure. There wasn’t much information to be divulged other than the fact that Kraven the Hunter and Venom, two iconic comic book villains, appeared to be having some fun online.

Teases a new villain for Spider-Man 2
As part of a recent comic book announcement, The Hood has been hinted to be the villain of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
A notice regarding a future comic strip for a precursor to the Web-slinging sequel was published on the PlayStation Blog.
Director of storytelling at Insomniac Games, John Paquette, described the comic before posing the hypothetical question, “What if Peter, Miles, and MJ had to team up against a new supervillain they didn’t understand?”
What if Peter, Miles, and MJ had to do it? was the question we kept coming back to when we first met down with the Marvel team to discuss the types of tales we could tell in the previous books. collaborate to defeat a fresh supervillain. Did they fail to recognize his power?
He added that he wanted fans to also get an idea of what this superhero team has been up to “since the events of Marvel’s Spider-Man and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales:”
Plus, we wanted to make sure we got a glimpse of what this heroic trio has been up to since the events of “Marvel’s Spider-Man” and “Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.” Man? – Men in the city? How is Miles doing in school? And how is MJ’s journalistic career going?
Additionally, he and his team gave this story’s antagonist, Spidey The Hood (real name Parker Robbins), a name on the page:
As Peter, Miles, and MJ attempt to strike a balance between their obligations to the city and to one another, their lives converge in this novel. They constantly come back to one of the comic’s major themes: Is magic real? Because in this action-packed song, none other than The Hood, the adored supervillain makes his first appearance in our universe and seems to possess supernatural abilities that defy simple cobwebs and fists!
It is unknown if The Hood will carry over from this connected comic into the game proper; However, Paquette’s use of “first appearance in our world” makes it seem like there’s more in store for the supervillain than a single mission in a comic.
Who is the new villain of Spider-Man 2?
Both Venom and Kraven the Hunter have been the villains at the center of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, but it seems unlikely that they’ll be the only two antagonistic forces facing Peter Parker and Miles Morales in the game.
That’s why The Hood feels ready to show up in the upcoming sequel, as well as this recently announced comic.
For those who don’t know, the origin of The Hood can be traced back to 2002, when minor criminal Parker Robbins struck a bargain with a demon in exchange for magical and supernatural powers, a cape, and a cowl.
Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, a major character in Insomniac’s debut wall-crawling adventure, is his well-known sidekick.
The Hood is set to have a meteoric climb to prominence thanks to his participation in several significant comic events over the years. The Disney+ series Ironheart, starring Anthony Ramos from Hamilton and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, will introduce the Spider-Man antagonist in the MCU in the upcoming months.
This massive, magic-filled evil will play perfectly in Marvel Spider-Man 2, fitting into that supernatural role that Mr. Negative/Martin Li has filled since the first game.
No official release timing for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 has been revealed; however, it is expected to hit PlayStation 5 platforms sometime this fall.
