Director Peyton Reed hinted about the likely plot of Ant-Man 4 shortly after the release of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
As the theatrical run of Quantumania is just getting underway, rumors of a potential fourth movie starring Paul Rudd’s MCU hero have begun to circulate.
Stephen Broussard, a producer for Marvel Studios, recently hinted that the studio is “already thinking about [Ant-Man 4],” though he refrained from getting too specific because he “wanted to say something” at the moment.
Paul Rudd, who plays Ant-Man, said he “knows nothing” about a fourth installment, but co-star Michael Douglas said he would be “glad to be there” if it happened.

The MCU’s Ant-Man 4 Tease
Peyton Reed, who directed Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, alluded to some ideas he had for a potential Ant-Man 4 in a recent interview.
In an interview with Yahoo Entertainment UK, Reed stated that they would “have to” make a fourth film on a somewhat smaller scale. Characters in Ant-Man 4 will probably be seen “ping-ponging back and forth [to and from the Quantum Realm],” he said.
I believe you would have to. I believe that ping-ponging back and forth [to and from the Quantum Realm] is one of the things you’d like to do. The creation of the Quantum Realm and all of these characters was a lot of fun.
He believes that the Quantum Realm has “more tale to tell,” but one “can’t lose sight of those family dynamics:”
“I believe there is still more to the story down there… Nevertheless, I also believe that it’s important to keep in mind the familial relationships and the Wasp and Ant-Man‘s “street-level” characters from the first several films.
The MCU director lamented that the “Scott-Cassie relationship” is “the key thing” regardless of where they are:
Yet the most important factor is the family dynamics, regardless of where they are. And in particular, I believe the Scott-Cassie connection.
Reed continued, “I want to see Cassie Lang [played by Kathryn Newton] becoming a huge part of the MCU:”
“I enjoy the thought of Cassie undoubtedly playing a significant future role in the MCU. I believe there is a lot more of their story to be told. I approached this one, Quantumania, as though it were the final installment in a trilogy. Never assume that you will get to produce another one. Nonetheless, I believe that these folks have a lot of untold stories. Therefore, we’ll see.
In the same interview, Newton added, “I’m a fan of cutting things down for Ant-Man 4: Resurrection.”
“I truly appreciate how realistic Ant-Man is. “Ant-Man and the Wasp” was fantastic. I enjoy how typical they are.”
Even Wasp actor Evangeline Lilly agreed that an Ant-Man sequel should be more relaxed:
‘ “If I were the director, writer, or Kevin Feige, I think I would [dial ‘Ant-Man 4′ down]. Ant-Man, the original, is still my favorite.
Will there be an Ant-Man 4?
Despite the fact that Ant-Man 4 has not yet received formal confirmation, it seems certain.
Paul Rudd is well-liked by MCU fans despite Quantumania’s underwhelming reception, so if he is up for more, why not reunite the group?
In terms of the Ant-Man franchise being scaled back for this upcoming movie, it would make a lot of sense to use a more realistic plot the following time.
How huge it feels in comparison to the earlier Ant-Man films is one of the greatest criticisms of Ant-Man 3. Therefore, while returning to the franchise’s roots for a fourth movie would probably be welcomed, that is not to mean that this would be an endeavor exclusively based on fan reaction.
And why not approve a sequel if the actors and crew are up for more Ant-Man adventures?
