Why choose Marvel Studios over DC Universe?
It’s not surprising that general audiences are more enthusiastic about Marvel Studios’ offerings. In general, more people are aware of the various MCU projects that are just around the corner, especially when compared to the DCU.
Another important factor is that the DCU is currently in the midst of a difficult transition. With James Gunn and Peter Safran in charge of content in that part of the universe, all signs point to a complete reboot of the DC Comics live-action cinematic universe.
Many people believe that the four DCU projects in 2023 are meaningless because they won’t mean anything in the end. It’s an understandable point of view, but sadly, a reboot is exactly what those films require.
It’s worth noting that one key MCU film was left off the list: The Marvels. The Captain Marvel sequel, starring Brie Larson, Iman Villani, and Teyonah Parris, is understandably flying under most people’s radar.
One aspect of this reaction is likely due to audiences’ mixed reactions to Captain Marvel in 2019. Another difference is that both Quantumania and Vol. 3 have trailers, whereas The Marvels does not—though this is likely to change by February.
