Marvel Studios gave Avengers 5 a dismal launch update.
Although filming on the highly anticipated sequel has yet to begin, it was originally scheduled to begin in spring 2019.
However, many believe the delay could be due to a variety of reasons, including the ongoing Writers Guild of America (WGA) writers’ strike and the dangerous allegations against Jonathan Majors.

What Date Will Avengers 5 Be Released?
The official release date for Avengers: The Kong Dynasty has been moved from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2026.
Jonathan Majors, who played Kong the Conqueror, is the star of Avengers 5, but the actor is currently on trial for assault in a New York City court.
Avengers: Secret Wars’ original release date of May 1, 2026, has been moved to May 7, 2027.
Why the delay of Avengers 5 is beneficial
The most recent postponement of Avengers: Kong Dynasty was appropriate given all the circumstances, including the uncertain future of Jonathan Majors, the writers’ strike, and the reunion of a great cast.
Unfortunately, the revised release date appears to be favorable for the movie and everyone involved, giving Marvel Studios more leeway to assess the current situation.
In an earlier reflection on the challenges of making Avengers 5, writer Jeff Loveness noted that “it’s almost comical how difficult this challenge is.”
Following the delayed announcement of House of Mouse, Loveness and the rest of the creative team will have more time to develop a deeper plot that allows each member of the ensemble to have their moment to shine, just like in previous Avengers films.
