Marvel has announced the exact timing of the upcoming MCU Disney+ series, Secret Invasion.
With Secret Invasion, Samuel L. Jackson will make his triumphant return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as Nick Fury in his first appearance in the Multiverse Saga. This will be the first time for him to work as a lead actor on the project.
The MCU will attempt to keep fans up to date with one of the newest stories in the overarching narrative, and a recently released trailer for the series teased its connections to Fury’s first canonical appearance in 2019’s Captain Marvel.

Where does Secret Invasion fit into the MCU timeline?
Jonathan Schwartz, VP of Production & Development at Marvel Studios, confirmed the series’ position in the expanding MCU timeline during the press conference for Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion.
The Blip and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law were the most current projects in both the real world and the cosmos, according to Schwartz, who also confirmed that the program will take place in the “present-day MCU.”
“We’re referring to it as the modern MCU. It thus exists in the same chronological order as the shows. Therefore, the MCU is in the precise present at this time, post-“She-Hulk,” post-Blip. That’s all I can say, I believe.
Secret Invasion will take place in the MCU canon in 2025, as Disney+’s She-Hulk timeline is confirmed to end in early 2025.
It’s also been revealed to take place before The Marvels, along with an introduction to Captain Marvel’s second solo adventure, indicating that the next MCU movie will be the most recent in the franchise’s history.
How will Secret Invasion move forward in the MCU timeline?
With history returning to Earth for the first time in any MCU production this year, after reading these reports, it’s no surprise to find out that Secret Invasion will be a new entry in the MCU timeline.
After Fury’s arc in the project garnered strong ties to Captain Marvel in 2019, it would set up a series of pitches for the MCU that would be more in line with the current timeline than most extensions in recent memory.
The real concern at this point is how Secret Invasion will affect the rest of the timeline, as it focuses primarily on Earth while setting up serious consequences with one of the biggest comic storylines in recent memory.
With the cast and crew recruited for Secret Invasion having trouble continuing the MCU’s great run here, it’s still unclear where the MCU will go once this new Disney+ project finds its own place on the timeline.
On Wednesday, June 21, the first episode of Secret Invasion will air on Disney+.
