Following the conclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Vin Diesel, who voices Groot in the MCU, confirmed his return.
In May, James Gunn brought his Guardians of the Galaxy Odyssey to a close, putting an end to the beloved gang but leaving room for further exploration.
Among them are Adam Warlock, Cosmo the Space Dog, and Phyla from the next generation of Guardians, as well as Drax and Nebula on Nowhere, Gamora as Ravager, Return of the Legendary Star-Lord, and others.
Vin Diesel’s Groot Comeback
On Wednesday, September 6, I Am Groot Season 2 will premiere on Disney+, confirming the return of Vin Diesel to the role.
This comes after the conclusion of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which formed a new squad with Alpha Groot in it.
While chatting with ComicBook, Diesel previously hinted at a future Groot story, mentioning a special “Return to Planet X”:
Ask [Marvel Studios CEO Kevin] Feige about the Groot story he’s excited about, the return trip to Planet X, if you see him on Saturday.
“No wonder Marvel wants to make a Planet X movie,” Diesel wrote on Instagram after praising I’m Groot for its first season:

What Role Will Groot Play in the MCU?
Since 2014, Vin Diesel has provided the voice of Groot in all his different ages, sizes, and guises. While Baby Groot was a lot of fun, it was great to hear Diesel’s rich voice in Guardians 3.
Fans may be tempted by a Planet X movie or a Disney+ production, especially if Marvel considers using the Guardians in future stories.
In the comics, Groot hails from Planet X, which serves as the hub for secondary planets and is the home of Flora Colossi.
Don’t confuse this with the other Marvel Planet X comic, which has a Jean Gray sad ending and focuses on Magneto, the New X-Men, and the X-Men.
Fans don’t need another proof that a project other than I Am Groot is coming to fruition, especially with Vin Diesel, Vol. 3 opened the door to future adventures for Groot.
