Mahershala Ali, the star of Blade, reportedly has a number of modifications he wants to see for his solo film while the MCU goes through some significant internal changes.
Blade, which was one of the most eagerly anticipated new MCU films after its San Diego Comic-Con 2019 announcement, has seen more than its fair share of problems throughout production, causing several postponements to its release date.
The vampire-centric solo story recently underwent an extremely public director change, with Yann Demange apparently replacing Bassam Tariq after Tariq was unable to continue with the film due to the production schedule.
It should come as no surprise to fans that Ali is having a significant influence on how this new MCU movie is produced given that many of these problems are related to his vision for Blade.

Blade’s script with Mahershala Ali Demands
During an appearance on The Hot Mic podcast, insider Jeff Sneider revealed fresh information regarding Mahershala Ali’s requirements for the Blade script.
According to Sneider, Ali has recently insisted on “script revisions all the time” because he is so interested in Blade’s plot process. After meeting with Marvel Studios in 2019, Ali supposedly felt that “Blade is his movie” and attempted to incorporate his vision into the plot and directing. Ali then pushed the project into development.
But, given that Ali is a creative genius who has won not one, but two Academy Awards for acting, this might also be for the best.
This occurs at a time when Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, is reportedly feeling “worn thin” from managing numerous projects at once while “putting out fires” with this film and the other MCU films.
Marvel Studios hasn’t responded to this report in any way.
Will Blade comply with Ali’s demands?
Mahershala Ali’s devotion to Blade has been well-documented over the past few years, and other stories have noted his annoyance at how challenging it has been to launch the film.
And given his track record as a multiple Oscar winner, it’s obvious that he wants to have as much of an impact as possible on Eric Brooks’ eagerly anticipated MCU debut.
Fans of the MCU are eager to see what the half-vampire will do once he’s fully introduced and bringing his supernatural escapades to the big screen after making his MCU debut via a voiceover cameo in Eternals.
Even though he’s mentioned how much fun it was to record that cameo alone, he seems to have a lot more planned for this well-known Marvel antihero.
The current release date for Blade is September 6, 2024.
