Lady Gaga did not appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 or become a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to James Gunn.
Those with keen eyes may have caught a brief shot of Rocket being hugged by a walking otter in the most recent trailer. This person is none other than Lylla, who Bradley Cooper’s character is in love with and who fans have been waiting to see for a very long time.
Soon after she was revealed, speculation about who might be playing her—possibly Lady Gaga—began to circulate. The relationship quickly gained momentum, probably because Bradley Cooper and the musician previously starred as love interests in the critically acclaimed film A Star is Born.
Gunn clarified the situation after hearing those rumors in the public.
Is Lady Gaga Lylla in Volume 3 of the Guardians?
Director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 James Gunn clarified on Instagram whether Lady Gaga, a well-known musician and actress, would be playing the role of Lylla in the impending threequel.
When asked by a fan if the actress who played the otter character’s name began with a “Ga” and ended with a “Ga,” Gunn replied, “No, it does not.”
The director’s movie, which he claims is about Bradley Cooper’s Rocket Raccoon, introduces the character.
Gunn had previously told Collider that Rocket was the reason “[he] needed to finish” the show and how “[he] love[s] the character of Rocket more than any character [he’s] dealt with before:”
“I needed to finish this because I love the character of Rocket more than any other character I’ve ever dealt with. Volume 3 is about Rocket’s story, and that’s why I needed to finish it. I felt like we did it in such a spectacular way that I can’t wait for people to see it. I had to do it.
The director explained in a different interview with Entertainment Weekly that Rocket is “what started [him] on this journey:
I felt compelled to wrap up telling Rocket’s story because I have a special bond with him. I was aware that seeing who he could be and who he was, as well as where he came from, was what first set me on this journey. And the thing that initially gave me a firm foundation for the Guardians
This time around, Lylla won’t be Rocket’s only animal friend. Cosmo the Russian space dog, who was first featured in The Holiday Special, will also appear in Volume 3. Maria Bakalova, who appeared in Borat 2 and the recent horror movie Bodies Bodies Bodies, plays the telepathic dog.

Who Voices Lylla in the Upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Film?
If this is accurate, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga won’t be teaming up again for the MCU. She might have made the character more interesting. Perhaps she is too busy getting ready for her part in Joker 2?
But who else could be doing Lylla’s voice? It’s challenging to focus on a particular possibility because it could be anyone.
Regardless of who it is, they will have to match Cooper’s performance as Rocket.
I hope the character is still around after Vol. 3. It would be disappointing if Marvel Studios introduced the new character and then killed her off in the big premiere.
Cosmo, at least, will hopefully always be there.
