According to a new report, the MCU could hunt for a specific type of actor to replace Kang the Conqueror actor Jonathan Majors.
Majors, who made his Marvel Studios theatrical debut earlier this year in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, was arrested for an alleged assault after making his Marvel Studios theatrical debut earlier this year in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
The actor maintains that “he’s done nothing wrong,” but that hasn’t stopped Marvel Studios from “discuss[ing] potential possibilities going ahead” with him, which might lead to Kang being wholly recast.
While nothing is set in stone because the Majors‘ case is still underway, it appears that MCU brass is preparing a backup plan in case they need to pull the chute.

Marvel Studios is considering a Kang replacement.
According to source Jeff Snieder, Marvel Studios is seeking a Damson Idris-type actor to replace Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror in the MCU.
Appearing on The Hot Mic podcast, Sneider mentioned Idris, who will star alongside Brad Pitt in Apple’s next Formula One film:
“Here’s one I’d like to discuss… Did you notice who was cast in Brad Pitt’s racing film? … Idris, Damson… I believe he is from Snowfall. So that’s a significant role, right? In this $150-200 million racing film, there is the young, hotshot racer opposite Brad Pitt. It was a major deal for him to get that.”
He stated that the young actor is the “kind of actor” that the studio is looking for if “Jonathan Majors [is] fired as Kang:”
“And, again, even though there hasn’t been any action on the Jonathan Majors front, I’ve heard that’s the type of guy, like, if Jonathan Majors got the boot as Kang, someone like Damson Idris is the type of person that [Marvel] may look at to replace him if that, in fact, occurs.”
Idris Elba is a rising star in Hollywood, best known for his roles in the FX drama Snowfall and the Netflix sci-fi flick Outside the Wire.
Will Jonathan Majors take over as Kang?
Marvel Studios is currently at a fork in the road that it never expected to be in.
The MCU made a huge investment in Jonathan Majors, revolving the franchise for the next half-decade around the actor and his Multiversal nemesis. As a result, if it comes to that, it will not let Major go lightly. Yet, if something occurs, Marvel Studios must be prepared.
Fortunately, Kang is a massive evil who comes in a variety of shapes thanks to his near-infinite Variants. As a result, if a replacement is required, it will not need too much narrative wrangling.
If a replacement is required, Damson Idris would be a good choice. The young actor seemed to be on the verge of breaking out (similar to how Jonathan Majors was when he was first cast).
Marvel Studios could sign Idris Elba while he’s still on the rise, then reap off on his newfound star power by the time Avengers: The Kang Dynasty hits theaters in 2025. Yet, if a change is to be made, it must be changed quickly as more MCU projects enter production.
