Liv Tyler, Edward Norton’s Hulk co-star, Will Appear in Captain America 4

In the upcoming Captain America 4, an unexpected MCU character who last made an appearance during the Infinity Saga will make a comeback.

Captain America 4 is currently in production, but that hasn’t stopped the Phase 5 movie from garnering attention.

Anthony Mackie is part of a fantastic group that also includes Tim Blake Nelson as The Leader, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, and Harrison Ford.

Many people have theorized that the film is finally acknowledging a significant cliffhanger from The Incredible Hulk as a result of the latter’s role as its villain. Furthermore, according to a recent source, it appears that it is not the only narrative element that will be addressed.

Liv Tyler will undoubtedly return as Betty Ross in Captain America: New World Order, according to The Hollywood Reporter, who first reported the news.

Tyler’s last MCU appearance as Betty Ross came during 2008’s The Incredible Hulk, a film where she co-starred alongside then-Bruce Banner actor Edward Norton.

Betty is the daughter of General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, who is a character previously portrayed by the late William Hurt.

Harrison Ford, who starred in Star Wars and Indiana Jones, will now portray the role in the Phase 5 film, which will be directed by Anthony Mackie.

Tyler’s roles in Armageddon, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and HBO’s The Leftovers are what made her most well-known before her brief MCU appearance.

How Betty Ross from Captain America 4 Fits in

For ardent MCU fans, Liv Tyler’s return as Betty Ross in Captain America 4 is a welcome sight, but it’s unclear where her character fits into the overall picture.

Betty was a victim of Thanos’ snap, which meant that she was gone for five years, the director of Avengers: Infinity War Joe Russo confirmed in 2018 via HuffPost. Her life might have been negatively impacted by the Blip, and she might still be dealing with its aftereffects.

There is a remote possibility that Betty’s return to the MCU will relate to her villainous appearance in the comics. Red She-Hulk, a villainous variation of Jennifer Walters’ Marvel superhero, was created from the character in Marvel Comics.

Betty may end up being upset with Bruce Banner and the Avengers for failing to fight Thanos the first time, leading to her heel turn.

On the other hand, Captain America 4 might be used to continue the story of Betty and Bruce, with the former possibly being abducted by Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader, in order to trick Hulk into falling for a trap. However, it is still unknown whether Mark Ruffalo’s Avenger will appear in the film.

Whatever the case, Betty Ross’ return in Captain America 4 allows Hulk‘s tale to be fleshed out while simultaneously upping the stakes for Sam Wilson’s solo quest.

Captain America: New World Order is slated to launch in theaters on May 3, 2024.
