Hugh Jackman may have accidentally revealed a crucial plot point in Deadpool 3

Hugh Jackman, a co-star in the upcoming MCU film Deadpool 3, may have just revealed a crucial detail about the Multiverse Saga sequel in a recent interview.

Jackman has been working hard to get ready for his eagerly anticipated Wolverine comeback, which will take place more than six years after his last performance in 2017’s Logan.

The only thing that is known about Deadpool 3’s plot is that Ryan Reynolds‘ Wade Wilson will feel a little out of place as he finally gets to know everything the MCU has to offer.

This is especially true for Wolverine, who will find it difficult to travel through the Multiverse from his own timeline in the X-Men realm to the MCU as other Variants also play important roles in the plot.

Hugh Jackman, a recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, may have unintentionally exposed a significant aspect of his portrayal of Wolverine in the 2024 film Deadpool 3.

Jackman said that he’ll be starring alongside Ryan Reynolds in the picture this summer while also mentioning that he’ll be playing “a dual role” as Wolverine:

It will even have a dual role, yes. I’ve known Ryan for twenty years, and we have had a great time together. This summer, we will be filming.

This “dual role” remark has sparked online rumors that Jackman accidentally revealed that he’ll be portraying two Wolverine variations.

It’s still unclear, though, whether he was merely indicating that he’d have a dual or co-starring role in Deadpool 3 with Ryan Reynolds.

What are Hugh Jackman’s two roles in Deadpool 3?

The most straightforward interpretation of these remarks is that Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s respective roles in Deadpool 3 are significant to Jackman. The Marvel veteran’s particular story will be crucial to the overall plot as it is reported that he will play almost as large of a role as Reynolds himself in this sequel.

But, all bets are off for Jackman’s precise comment given that the MCU is completely embracing Multiversal narratives with Variants at every turn, particularly with Kang the Conqueror serving as a crucial player in the adventure.

Given that Jackman has appeared in nine prior films, there is a chance that he will return to play any of the characters from any point in the timeline, especially because the threequel would purportedly take place before the events of Logan.

He has previously played two characters in X-Men films. Most notably, in 2017’s Logan, he played both the main character and the clone of X-24 who killed him at the conclusion of the film, which Deadpool 3 could obviously mock.

If the plot demands a scene with the seasoned MCU veteran, Jackman might even be portraying an MCU version of Hugh Jackman. After all, Ryan Reynolds was killed by Deadpool in one of the post-credits scenes of Deadpool 2 as the actor was reading the script for his 2011 Green Lantern film.

Only time will tell what Jackman’s remarks about taking on two roles really imply, but with him joining a property as outrageous as Deadpool, nothing is off the table.

Deadpool 3 is getting ready to start shooting, and it will make its theatrical premiere on November 8, 2024.
