Hugh Jackman has confirmed that he will play a significant part as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, but he recently hinted at his possible future in the role, especially with Avengers: Secret Wars just around the corner.
Given the rumors that have already surfaced regarding the final installment of the Multiverse Saga, Avengers 6 appears to be the biggest theatrical release in the history of comic book movies. The 2026 follow-up will have the rare chance to resurrect a large number of heroes and antagonists from the previous three decades of Marvel films, giving fans the chance to see some iconic legacy characters alongside the best MCU characters.
In Deadpool 3, Jackman will be the most recent of these venerable actors to make an exciting entry into the MCU. After that, he is reportedly already in line for a second comeback in Secret Wars.

Hugh Jackman Hints at Future MCU Roles
Hugh Jackman discussed the possibility of reprising his role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after 2024’s Deadpool 3 on The Empire Film Podcast.
Jackman acknowledged that this is how he’s viewed all of his Wolverine films since the beginning when asked if he sees his MCU role in Deadpool 3 as “a one-and-done.” Before the release of 2000’s X-Men, all he had was “a two-picture deal,” and ever since, he has only considered each film individually as it is being developed:
“In my mind, a movie is a one-shot. I think of it that way. To be completely honest, I had a two-picture deal at first, but I still believed it to be a one-time deal. You know, there weren’t any comic book movies back then. I just handle each one separately. I’m fortunate in that I don’t have to consider anything else, but I still believe it’s the best course of action.
Will Hugh Jackman Make an Appearance in Avengers 6?
Even with nine X-Men films under his belt already, Hugh Jackman makes it clear in his quotes about his time as Wolverine that each new appearance is treated on a case-by-case basis. However, with the actor’s return to the franchise now confirmed for Deadpool 3, speculation naturally turns to whether he’ll have a part to play in Marvel Studios’ most ambitious film to date, which will see the Multiverse unleashed.
According to rumors, Marvel is looking to cast as many legacy characters as they can in Avengers 6, reaching back over two decades in history and into films from long before the MCU was even a thing. Marvel Studios intends to hold nothing back as Marvel’s history is celebrated in this grand event, including everyone from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men to numerous other mutant heroes from the X-Men saga.
Avengers 6 won’t hit theatres for more than three years, giving Marvel plenty of time to talk to Jackman and other actors as this massive production comes together. Although that news alone is sending fans into a frenzy as the Multiverse Saga continues, his role in Deadpool 3 is all that has been confirmed as of yet.
