Hayley Atwell did not accept her role in Doctor Strange 2

Following a brief cameo in Doctor Strange 2, Hayley Atwell expressed her disappointment that Peggy didn’t get a bigger role in the MCU.

Peggy Carter, played by Atwell, has been a staple of the MCU, often playing Captain America’s longtime love interest.

Since 2011, Atwell has portrayed Becky in a variety of roles, from the dying Becky in Captain America: The Winter Soldier to the lead character in the ABC series Agent Carter.

Atwell recently returned briefly in What If…?, Doctor Strange 2, and Avengers: Endgame.

Captain Carter in Doctor Strange 2 disappoints Hayley Atwell

In an interview with Hayley Atwell for the Happy Chat Confused podcast, she described Captain Carter’s brief appearance as “a frustrating moment [in Doctor Strange 2]”.

While discussing the Earth-838 scene with Atwell, host Josh Horowitz said, “That was quick,” referring to how the Scarlet Witch quickly dispatched her character with her own shield.

Atwell cited the following example of fans joking, “I could do this all day,” followed by Carter being “immediately sliced in half by a frisbee:”

“…she says, ‘I could do this all day,’ quickly split in half by a Frisbee, and the audience yells, ‘She can’t do that all day. You can’t seem to, so… egg on your face, really. ‘Oh, that really didn’t help Becky,’ I thought.

Before I share this incident, what if Atwell…? Series on Disney+.

According to the actress, recording your lines in a booth while wearing “your pajamas” is “so much fun”:

“What if… I thought I had a lot more work to do on the animated series,” any actor would say, and it’s more fun doing animation in a booth in your pajamas because you can focus. Only on voice and instrumental. It is the main performance tool you use.

He went on to express his admiration for how “they could have done more for her” in What If…? “Captain Britain:”

I wish they could do a little more for Captain Carter as a result. “Captain Britain”

Atwell said that she “came straight off the set” of Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning Part One in Los Angeles to film a scene for Doctor Strange 2.

“He was cool coming in though, and he did those stunts when he was running really fast, but like sliding on my knees and going back, I straightened up the first time. Because I was wrapped for Mission [Impossible] 7 because I wrapped myself nine times… So on the set of the mission, from there I traveled directly to the Los Angeles airport, changed into a suit, changed into a dress, and walked into the building without stopping.

After a serious movie like Mission Impossible 7, Atwell “wanted to do it all:”

When they said, “Well, this is the fight,” I was able to say, “I want to do all of that,” because I was in very high physical condition. Please let me try this. Also, it felt great to slide on my knee.

The future of Captain Carter in the MCU

Doctor Strange 2
Marvel

Hayley Atwell has reiterated her reports of Captain Carter’s appearance in the Multiverse of Madness.

She had previously said that the scene was “not the path I see for Peggy” and that she “definitely wants her to do more”.

However, there is an infinite multiverse with different versions of these people engaging in various challenges and conflicts, and what exactly…? She expresses her.

Atwell is open to returning to the role in a future adaptation, either live-action or animated.

In an earlier statement, the actress said she “would like to (return) if Marvel finds a home for her.” Atwell is more specific in her desire to return to Carter, the context of her “feeling worthy of her:”

“Well… I don’t have any news to share with you. But I appreciate her enthusiasm. And if Marvel could put her in an environment that felt appropriate for her character development and maturation, that would be wonderful:
