Harrison Ford Discloses Marvel Movie Role

Harrison Ford was reportedly cast as a recast in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: New World Order. Thunderbolt Ross has made a lot of news in recent months, and he’s finally addressed his upcoming MCU debut.

Ford was reportedly hired in September to replace the late William Hurt as the MCU’s Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America 4 in 2024.

While the exact plot details of the Anthony Mackie-led solo film remain unknown, another rumor suggests that in the film, Ross is constructing his own “new world order,” pitting him against the titular Star-Spangled Avenger.

Ford’s participation in the upcoming MCU film was eventually confirmed by Marvel Studios producer Nate Moore, who hinted that “[they] couldn’t be more excited” and that his scenes with Mackie will be “fantastic.”

Harrison Ford, a veteran of the Star Wars franchise, broke his silence about playing Thunderbolt Ross in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in an interview with The Playlist.

Ford acknowledged that his desire to join the enduringly successful superhero franchise is simply a result of his current desire to “do some of the things I haven’t done:”

What level of interest did you show in [joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe]?

Ford: “Hey, look, I’ve accomplished a lot. I now desire to complete some of my unfinished tasks.

Then, when The Playlist asked Ford if he would be donning a motion-capture suit to record scenes as Red Hulk (Thunderbolt Ross in comics), Ford responded with a nonverbal coy smile:

“Are you going to be doing the mo-cap stuff and everything [for Red Hulk]?” asks the playlist.

Harrison Ford recently expressed his excitement about joining the MCU, which makes sense given that it’s a new opportunity for him.

Ford’s comments about doing “some of the things” that he hasn’t done could suggest that he’s going all-out in the CGI department this time around given that his tenure as Indiana Jones already required him to take on stunts and action sequences over the years.

Despite his refusal to discuss his involvement in a mo-cap suit or a potential Red Hulk transformation, the actor’s nonverbal coy response suggests that he is merely trying to avoid giving away any surprises.

There has been much buildup to the confrontation between Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross. It would be in keeping with the plot of the film to see him transform into the formidable adversary Red Hulk, especially given that Ross’ last MCU appearance (as Black Widow) suggested that he was not in good health.

Regardless, Ford is a fascinating addition to the MCU, and hopefully, it won’t be a one-movie deal.
