One of Marvel Studios’ veterans teased fans about the ending of the MCU’s upcoming film, Guardians 3.
Guardians 3 will be the final film for this iteration of the Guardians in the MCU, and it is expected to be an emotional rollercoaster for the whole MCU fandom.
The Guardians of the Galaxy 3 campaign videos have revealed just how heartbreaking and challenging this plot will be as this intergalactic crew of misfits undergoes their most intense standalone film yet.
Additionally, given that this is director James Gunn’s final Marvel film before joining DC Studios full-time, expectations are high for this threequel to be one of the MCU’s most memorable experiences.

Prominent Actor Teases Guardians 3 Finale
Karen Gillan, star of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, previewed how the upcoming MCU threequel will finish in an interview with Rolling Stone.
Gillan revealed a sequence from Guardians 3’s ending that was “kind of an ending-of-an-era scenario,” saying that no one on set had to act at all. Everyone was in tears during this sequence, which seemed “like a goodbye” to the entire franchise:
“Toward the close of the film, there’s a sequence that feels like the end of an era.” And everyone in the scene was crying. When you see it, remember that none of us are acting. Everyone was emotional, for example. It did seem like a farewell. And it felt genuine.”
Drax star Dave Bautista hinted at the end of an era in May 2022, bidding goodbye to his Marvel hero while reflecting on how the saga “changed [his] life:”
“I haven’t found the right words yet. It came to an abrupt finish, and I was on to the next picture before I could digest it all. The voyage that altered my life has come to an end. #GalacticaVol3 #GoodbyeDrax #DreamChaser #DreamMachine”
In February 2022, Gamora actor Zoe Saldaa expressed the same view, calling the event “bittersweet” and complimenting James Gunn for penning “a magnificent story” full of emotion:
“It’s bittersweet; after all those years of grumbling about that green makeup, I’m starting to miss it. There’s a lot of melancholy here, but also a sense of accomplishment that we’ve accomplished something amazing. James Gunn has created a lovely drama that has us in tears even as we film it.”
How Will Guardians of the Galaxy 3 End?
While Guardians of the Galaxy will be the sixth MCU solo series to be turned into a trilogy, none of its predecessors have delivered the emotional punch that James Gunn has in mind this time.
Given that the length of Guardians 3 will be significantly longer than that of the previous two films, Gunn and the team are giving the sequel’s core ensemble every opportunity to shine on an emotional level in the tale.
Happily, early reactions to the Guardians‘ final MCU epic have been encouraging, with audiences leaning toward Marvel Studios’ second film on the Phase 5 slate.
Moreover, given that many believe Phase 5 got off to a rocky start with Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, hearing so many positive things about Guardians 3 should only strengthen its case when it hits theaters.
