Release date, cast, and everything we know about Hawkeye Season 2

How much information has been made public about the cast and release date of the upcoming season 2 of Hawkeye, the final Disney+ MCU project in 2021?

In November 2021, Clint Barton, played by Jeremy Renner, became the last of the original six Avengers to have his own project, joined the MCU and embarked on his first solo outing in over ten years.

However, the question is whether Archer-turned-Avengers and his team can continue their streaming adventure, as none of the MCU’s Disney+ series comes with a guaranteed multi-season run.

Will Hawkeye season 2 ever air?

Many of the prominent cast members from Season 1 are expecting Hawkeye to appear in Season 2, but Marvel Studios hasn’t officially confirmed it yet.

Season 1 director Rhys Thomas discussed the possibility of a Season 2 extension with Collider in December 2021, stressing that he “cannot speak to future plans for Secret Legacy” but praised how fans have received Hailee Steinfeld’s, Kate Bishop:

“Due to the tradition of secrecy, I can’t discuss future intentions. Again, when a show starts, you never know how people will react, so it’s been great to see how enthusiastically they’ve embraced it and loved it.” seeing Hayley take on the character and establish herself so securely in the MCU. Fantastic. I’m excited to see where the character will go next. I would definitely love to do it again. I’ve really enjoyed touring the MCU.

However, Hawkeye was first promoted as a limited series by Marvel during the previous season of the Emmy Awards, suggesting that it most likely won’t get a second regular season.

However, Disney only formally submitted Hawkeye for consideration in the “Outstanding Comedy Series” category for the May 2022 Emmys, not in the “Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series” category.

Although no official confirmation has been made yet, it did give a hint that Hockey might continue for a second season.

As Hawkeye, will Jeremy Renner return?

The status of the show’s star actor and MCU veteran Jeremy Renner is, of course, a huge concern regarding Hawkeye season 2.

It’s been more than six months since Renner’s traumatic injuries, which included multiple broken bones, a collapsed lung, and a punctured liver after shielding his nephew from a snowstorm, occurred at his Lake Tahoe home.

Although his condition quickly stabilized and his injuries were treated surgically, the road to recovery would be difficult and long; Some experts predict it will take years for him to return to pre-accident levels.

Regarding Renner’s rehabilitation, a source went into more detail, saying the damage to his chest was “so significant that it had to be surgically reconstructed.” Friends of his predict it will be two years or more before the hockey actor starts filming again.

However, there is some optimism about Renner’s chances of returning, as actor Clint Barton has no plans to step down from the role.

On June 2, during a guest appearance at the Phoenix Fan Fusion Festival, he announced that “if Marvel wanted him back”, he would “do it in a heartbeat” while he recovers from his injuries.

On Friday, June 2, Jeremy Renner made a guest appearance at the Phoenix Fan Fusion event in Arizona to discuss his life after surgery.

Before making that statement, he clarified that he was “not going anywhere” but that in the future, his family would limit Renner’s ability to sign on to new movies and projects.

Cast Speculations For Hawkeye Season 2: Who Might Return?

Several of the cast members are expected to reprise their roles if the next six episodes of Hockey are renewed for a second season.

The obvious main characters, Clint Barton and Kate Bishop are expected to make major appearances, especially after Kate developed a close bond at the end of season 1 as a result of spending Christmas with Hawkeye on her family’s farm.

Finally choosing the right side of the conflict, Tony Dalton’s Jack Duquesne was given the chance to show off his swordsmanship by helping take down the tracksuit mob and survived season 1.

Alachua Cox’s Maya López, better known as Echo, is another hero on Hawkeye’s list. Her own series Echo of Her will debut on Disney+ in November. She’d be an easy choice to bring back for Hawkeye Season 2, especially given the special bond he and Clint Barton have thanks to her shared hearing loss.

Florence Puck’s Yelena Belova, who Hawkeye and Hawkeye come to some sort of understanding with after Natasha Romanoff’s death in season 1, episode 6, is also on the list of possible reappearances. Elena and Clint have a falling out and Elena goes off into the unknown, though they can work together again in Season 2 if Clint needs help with a mission.

Along with the long-awaited return of Clint Barton, Linda Cardellini’s earlier portrayal of Laura Barton should also be anticipated. She made a guest appearance in all but one of the Season 1 episodes, and now that he’s been revealed to be a former SHIELD agent, the MCU will have plenty of opportunities to explore his past.

Plus, with Fra Fee’s Kazi Kazimierczak now in the spotlight, viewers are left wondering if Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin or the tracksuit mob members will return for next season.

What could happen in Hawkeye Season 2?

Depending on where Hawkeye Season 2 fits into the larger MCU timeline, there are other stories in the upcoming episodes.

Going forward, Kate Bishop looks set to take on a more prominent role in the MCU, which could give her the chance to replace Jeremy Renner as the lead character in Hawkeye and take on a more supporting role.

With Hailee Steinfeld taking over the lead role, this could be a great move to allow Renner to get back into shape, especially since he’s still on the mend after his injury.

With the swordsman taking shape and Jacques Duquesne helping Clint and Kate on their final mission, there’s great potential for him to play a bigger role in the series.

One notable unanswered question concerns Wilson Fisk and Echo’s tumultuous relationship, especially after she shot him in the face in Season 1. However, this issue will definitely be addressed in both Echo and Daredevil: Burn Again.

Also, with Kate Bishop appearing on the show, rumors abound about the return of the Young Avengers. Season 2 may address this development as her character becomes a key leader on the team.

Marvel won’t want to leave this one story unfinished for long, especially as the multiverse saga rises to new heights, especially in light of the big names Marvel has lined up for their next adventures.

Disney+ is now offering Hawkeye season 1 to stream.
