Unexpected spin-off films have been introduced by Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, including Sydney Sweeney’s Madame Web and Bad Bunny’s El Muerto, and it appears that another unanticipated movie has joined the list under the Sony Pictures brand.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play Kraven the Hunter in the two films mentioned above, and Morbius’ post-credits scene may have hinted at a villainous alliance against Spider-Man (as to which version, no one knows).
Even though fans are still perplexed about Sony’s plans for its Marvel universe, the studio doesn’t seem discouraged by that notion as more movies have been given the go-ahead.

The spin-off of Spider-Man will be produced by Donald Glover.
Donald Glover (Community, Atlanta) will star in and produce a film about one of Spider-Man’s villains, Hypno-Hustler, according to The Hollywood Reporter (THR).
Given that he also appeared in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis, aka Miles Morales’ uncle, Donald Glover has become the first actor to be cast as two separate major live-action characters in the Spider-Man franchise (as confirmed by a deleted scene).
Donald Glover also voiced Spider-Man Morales in the 2015 Disney XD series Ultimate Spider-Man.
The film, which is reportedly set in Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man universe of Marvel Comics characters, will revolve around the titular villain, who robbed his audience using hypnosis technology in his instruments.
Hypno-Hustler, created by Rocket Racoon creator Bill Mantlo and artist Frank Springer, is the leader of the Mercy Killers and is described as a product of the disco music scene.
Myles Murphy, Eddie Murphy’s son, has been hired as the film’s writer.
Glover was also interested in the villain’s musical aspect, according to THR’s sources. Furthermore, because the character has less “Marvel canon baggage,” the outlet noted that it frees the actor to “greater interpretations,” which could range from a disco period piece to a reimagined modern hip-hop version.
What Is the Status of Donald Glover’s MCU Role Now?
This historic move by Sony may put a damper on Donald Glover’s return to the MCU as Aaron Davis. Nonetheless, given that his role as Miles Morales’ uncle was confirmed via a deleted scene, Marvel Studios has the option of recasting the character if necessary.
While this is unfortunate, Glover’s producing credit in Sony’s Hypno-Hustler film indicates that he is enthusiastic about the project, implying that he will likely choose it over his MCU commitment.
It is unknown whether the planned Hypno-Hustler film will be linked to the larger universe in which Venom and Morbius live. According to the report, this is less likely because Glover prefers “greater interpretations” outside of Marvel canon baggage.
However, Glover’s freedom, combined with Myles Murphy’s interpretation, allows Hypno-Hustler to stand out and possibly be one of Sony’s Marvel universe’s saving graces.
Unfortunately, Spider-Man‘s presence in all of those films, including Hypno-Hustler, is unknown.
