A wizard who wields the powers of Doctor Strange in the New Guardians 3 trailer

In a recent release of the Guardians 3 trailer, Doctor Strange’s magic is hinted at.

Wizards have appeared more frequently in the MCU since the start of Phase 4.

In addition to Doctor Strange’s appearance in Multiverse of Madness and Spider-Man: No Way Home as Doctor Strange, Wong appeared as the king of the MCU cameo, while former arcane arts student Donny Blaze appeared in She-Hulk on Disney+.

The latest marketing pitch for the new Guardians 3 revealed the inclusion of another wizard in the MCU, as well as some mystical magical arts.

In a recent TV commercial for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, I used the Krugarr character Tao Mandalas to represent a laughing emoji, like Doctor Strange.

Along with Sylvester Stallone’s Stakar Ogord and the rest of the assembled Ravagers, Krugarr displayed his witchcraft abilities in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 2-second mid-credits sequence.

In the comics, he was actually an apprentice to Doctor Strange who took over as Sorcerer Supreme.

Does Doctor Strange reference in the next Guardians movie?

The presence of another Master of the Mystic Arts in Volume 3 could be a connection to Strange and Wong, even if Krugarr first appeared in Phase 3.

Regardless, Krugarr’s use of the Tao Mandalas to communicate will keep the MCU-related Doctor Strange angle on the audience’s brain.

Since they had previously appeared in an earlier trailer for the film, it’s possible that Krugar and the other members of Stakar’s Ravagers will play a larger role in the impending trilogy.

If that’s the case, and Guardians 3 serves as the third and final installment in James Gunn’s trilogy, the main question is where the film will leave the remaining cast.

Is the Ravagers’ time at the MCU over? Or do they and the other Guardians characters have more stories to share?

By the time the credits roll, viewers should have more questions than answers after the volume. 3.
