Disney+’s Daredevil Casting Changes MCU History

Marvel Studios made a historic decision with the director of its upcoming Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, bringing back fan-favorite hero Charlie Cox.

One of the most anticipated projects by many UCM fans. Not only will it bring back the titular hero, but Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher will be there as well.

The Disney+ show is already a storied part of the Marvel Studios slate, with its first season clocking in at 18 episodes, doubling the length of the longest-running MCU streaming series to date. Reborn plans production for 11 months or more.

Now, he will announce another historic component of the project.

According to a recent Deadline story, Clark Johnson will appear in Daredevil: Marvel Studios in a unique and multifaceted capacity.

Johnson will play a new character who appears frequently throughout the first 18 episodes of the show’s first season and will direct two of those episodes. As usual in Marvel, nothing is known about his character.

However, the outlet said they thought his character’s name was Cherry.

This marks the first time in MCU history that a Marvel Studios Disney+ project has had one of its own directors playing a non-cameo role. The same talent has already worked in front of and behind the camera at Marvel Studios.

Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2, created Happy Hogan, who has appeared in other MCU movies over the years.

It is common for James Gunn to appear in his own works, and Jessica Kao, writer of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, made a cameo appearance towards the end of the series.

Clark Johnson’s dual role as director and actor shows that Marvel Studios is confident in his abilities.

Although the details of Johnson’s personality are unknown, he has the appearance of a reporter, or Matt Murdock may recognize his previous occupation as a lawyer.

The name “Cherry” only applies to one Marvel Comics character, and that character is the wife of a Tracksuit Mafia member, so that’s not what’s going on here.

Johnson will be one of many new faces. Chief among them will be Michael Gandolfini, who is said to play a young Wilson Fisk or the son of the legendary villain.

Additionally, Sandrine Holt will join the cast as a reprise of Vanessa Fisk, who was originally portrayed by Aylette Juror in the Netflix original series.

Disney+ Daredevil: Born Again is expected to launch sometime in 2024.
