Disney+ Announces Loki Season 2 Release Date

Disney+ has announced the official release date for Loki season 2 after months of speculation.

Since the second season of Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief was announced as the mid-credits scene at the end of the first season, the character’s reappearance has been in perpetual turmoil.

Production on the series ended in October 2022 and the footage was shown in a Disney+ commercial released earlier this year.

At the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, a post-credits sequence teased that Loki’s “quest [looking for… Kong variants” will be the focus of season two. This is the newest entry in the Mutliversal streaming series.

The release date for Loki Season 2 Announced

Loki Season 2

Loki Season 2 will debut on Disney+ on October 6, according to Marvel Studios, who spoke during Disney’s Upfront 2023 presentation.

Friday, October 6 is a departure from the recent trend of Marvel Studios releasing on Wednesdays.

Current speculation has the series premiering sometime in “mid-2023,” while a different story from recent said it would occur later.

Loki’s debut comes later than expected

Loki Season 2

While fans of Loki Season 2 had already anticipated an October release date, the reality-changing series was originally slated for a “Summer 2023” release at San Diego Comic-Con 2022. So, October passed that window.

Such a modest delay would be welcomed by fans in the current climate for Disney and Marvel Studios, which includes a change in content strategy, the global financial crisis, and (now) the Hollywood writers’ strike.

It’s almost interesting that now the series premieres on Fridays instead of Wednesdays.

The Marvel Studios projects made their debut on Disney+ on Friday when they first became available. However, Loki Season 1 started a tradition of Wednesday releases that challenged that norm.

Marvel has occasionally strayed from its Wednesday release schedule (like She-Hulk: Attorney at Law), but for the most part, it sticks to this rule.

However, it seems that Loki will shake things up again. As the upcoming MCU series Echo has already announced that all of its episodes will drop on Wednesday, November 29, it looks like this won’t be a significant change for a long time.
