According to director Shawn Levy, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine will return in Deadpool 3 and play a significant role.
When news of Jackman’s participation in Deadpool 3 first surfaced, it broke the internet and brought the most prominent member of the X-Men franchise back for one last adventure. It’s particularly exciting that he will be working with Marvel Studios for the first time because Jackman frequently assured fans that he would put his claws away after the release of Logan in 2017.
As the director of Deadpool 3 hinted at the significance of the enduring Marvel mutant, it now appears that Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the upcoming film.
Hugh Jackman: Co-Leading Star in Deadpool 3?

Director of Deadpool 3 Shawn Levy discussed Hugh Jackman’s role as Wolverine in the sequel with Syfy.
As Wolverine and Deadpool team up, he talked about how exciting it is to be working on a film with “this iconic duo together in an entire movie for the first time”:
“I have little to say. Thank God Stranger Things has taught me to keep my mouth shut more often than it comes naturally to me. I’ll just say that it’s been exciting to work on the creation and preparation of this film, which features this legendary pair as Wolverine and Deadpool for the first time ever in an entire film. The world has eagerly anticipated this pairing for more than ten years, and I’m the fortunate son of a b**** who gets to share a tale about it.”
Levy began by teasing the length of time fans have been waiting for this film and expressing his gratitude for the opportunity to make it before going on to describe the many concepts that are coming to life with “the ultimate Marvel icon and the ultimate Marvel iconoclast:”
Because you’re talking about the ultimate Marvel icon and the ultimate Marvel iconoclast, there are ideas that we didn’t anticipate that come to us every day as we work on the screenplay.

Return of Wolverine for Full MCU Glory

Given that Wolverine was one of the main characters in the majority of the original X-Men films and received his own trilogy of solo films as a result, it should come as no surprise that he will play a significant part in Deadpool 3. Considering that Levy has said that Wolverine’s new role will be nearly as significant as that of Deadpool himself, it now appears that Marvel Studios is giving Jackman the chance to play a significant role in his MCU debut as well.
Although the plot of the movie is still being kept a secret, all indications are that Wolverine and Deadpool will travel on some sort of adventure with Owen Wilson’s Mobius and the other members of the Time Variance Authority. Jackman will experience the most insane story of his Marvel career as he travels through time and space, just based on the craziness that will result from that plot point alone (again).
Although Jackman’s return in any capacity was unexpected, he has already started his Wolverine training regimen in preparation for the filming, which is anticipated to begin sometime in 2023. No matter how the plot develops, the clawed mutant will have a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the Marvel icon jumps on the Marvel Studios bandwagon.
