James Gunn, the writer, and director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 have responded to opinions speculating on Rocket Raccoon‘s potential demise in the upcoming threequel.
Many fans are concerned that the protagonist would pass away in the upcoming film in the series because of the film’s depressing atmosphere and emphasis on Rocket’s backstory.
The cast has made a lot of noise about how emotionally charged the entire script is. The movie depicts “a darker story,” one that is “an emotional process to go through,” according to the director.
In contrast to Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord, Gunn has acknowledged that he saw Rocket as “the secret protagonist” of every Guardians movie. He even made it clear in the same interview that he “needed to conclude Rocket’s story.”
The chances don’t seem good for the talking, gun-toting mammal.

In Guardians of the Galaxy 3: Will Rocket Raccoon Die?
James Gunn, the writer/director of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, responded to a few comments on Instagram on Rocket Raccoon’s potential demise.
On one of Gunn’s most recent posts, a dubious bitter user wrote that they “hope Rocket dies” in the upcoming MCU movie.
The director replied by using an emoji with wide eyes. This might be interpreted in a number of ways, either as a playful method for Gunn to tease Rocket’s future or as a shock at this stranger’s extreme dislike of the trash panda.
James Gunn immediately retorted, “That’s not how tales operate,” in response to a fan who said that the character didn’t need to die and only needs to be “[taken] off the world for a while.
Many people’s concern that Bradley Cooper’s MCU mainstay hero will perish is understandable.
Rocket is the focus of the movie’s promotion, as was already mentioned, and each trailer has a depressing conclusion. It is also stated that the plot would center on the character’s history and his encounter with the person who created him.
It’s understandable that the talking raccoon’s personal narrative would not have a happy ending.

Rocket’s Future in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: Theories
It certainly seems quite clear that Rocket should die. That could have prevented Gunn from making the tragic decision to kill everyone’s beloved Raccoon.
That does not mean that nobody will pass away. But it appears very clear that someone won’t survive Vol. 3 based on the performers’ comments about the movie’s intense passion and climactic components.
One would have to believe that it would be one of the key team players with the greatest influence. The original Gamora was executed in Avengers: Infinity War and Groot were already dead in the first film.
The most likely contenders are Star-Lord and Drax in light of this.
Based on actual events, Drax is one of the two who is most likely to perish. Dave Bautista, the actor who plays the part, has expressed in the past that he is prepared to finish up.
The actor claimed that applying Drax’s full makeup is “simply a nightmare” and that he “[doesn’t] know whether [he] wants[s] Drax to be [his] legacy.” Not to mention how he has been frank about his impending retirement from Marvel, stating that Vol. 3 was “the perfect goodbye.”
What might Rocket do going forward if he manages to survive?
Rocket might go ahead and start the next group of cosmic heroes as this film is confirmed to be the last adventure for this edition of the Guardians of the Galaxy.
