There is a serious security flaw in Krakoa’s X-Men’s Paradise, and Wolverine explains that human invasion is unlikely for a source. The 2019 Krakow reboot of the X-Men line changed a lot for Marvel’s happy mutants, but the protection provided by Krakow gave the X-Men the upper hand against humans who constantly sought to defeat and destroy them. Now Wolverine #26 shows that protecting the island may be in vain, as the high-tech systems can be easily spoofed… thanks to Deadpool.
After decades of searching for a place for itself, 2019 brought the biggest change for the X-Men since the 1975 giant-sized X-Men: Krakow reboot. Created by Jonathan Hickman, it established an island nation for mutants and mutants only, irreversibly changing the status quo. Professor X and Magneto have been working together since their first meeting to build the new nation (and every fight has turned into a “disagreement” about how to do it). Krakow’s gates located around the world prevent unauthorized human entry; They can pass only if they are with mutants.

But Wolverine by Benjamin Percy throws a wrench in the gears of a perfectly tuned safety system, with art by Juan Jose Ripe. Wolverine, after being summoned by the Beast on a mission, throws an object at his friend’s daughter: a severed finger. “It’s the finger of a boy named Wade Wilson,” Wolverine says. “This is your key to Krakow. It will lead you through the gates.” And with that, Wolverine leaves the scene — and in the process, gives readers a big clue that Krakow doesn’t have to be nearly as safe.
Putting aside the fact that Wolverine usually has Deadpool’s fingers, this scene proves that a mutant doesn’t need to be alive to reach Krakow. In fact, any part of a mutant allows humans to pass through gates… and the X-Men often fight in multiple wars overseas. After these fights it would be a trivial matter for humans to recover the mutant DNA and use it as a sort of biological force; From there, a manned force could march through the gates into Krakow.
Individually, there are other safeguards as well – chief among them the ridiculous number of super-powerful mutants that can annihilate forces in a single act (Storm, Jean Grey, and Magneto to name a few). But the truth is that the gates themselves are unsafe. Wolverine offering Deadpool’s severed finger to a human may seem like a harmless (if slightly morbid) gesture, but taken to its logical extreme, even a little mutant DNA can be found in Logan. Like, can walk through the gates of Krakow. ,
