To some criticism, Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was reintroduced to viewers in the recent Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law; the actor has since addressed this.
There was some controversy surrounding the most recent appearance. She-Hulk received a largely unfavorable response from fans even before the appearance of Daredevil. However, many people, including detractors, appreciated the MCU’s lighter and sillier approach. Daredevil’s return, however, was one of the most contentious aspects of the series.
The tone of She-Hulk was significantly different from the harsh and gritty original Daredevil series; for some, the shift was too great. Angry critics quickly made the hashtag #NotMyDaredevil trend on social media. The way Daredevil was portrayed in the Disney+ release received a lot of criticism.
In a recent interview, Cox addressed this criticism directly.

Perfect Retort to Criticism from Daredevil Star
Charlie Cox responded to criticism of his character’s controversial She-Hulk appearance in a recent interview with Digital Spy and provided a great counterargument.
The actor acknowledges that the divisive “walk of shame” caused him particular anxiety:
“There are situations where you say, “I don’t know,” like the walk of shame. It could go either way. This might be something that the fans really like, but it might also feel out of character with how they feel about the character and how the story is written.”
Cox acknowledged that there were many possible outcomes for the scene and that his suspicion was confirmed by the contentious response. While some fans welcomed the change in tone, others were disappointed with the character’s more upbeat portrayal.
The Daredevil actor made it clear that it is not his program and that he was content to “embrace the tone” of She-Hulk and allow Matt Murdock to occasionally “let his hair down.”
“In this reality, Matt is in Los Angeles and lets his hair down a bit. Just having a good time. He’s doing a bang-up job in court. He has an affair with a very attractive and charismatic lawyer, you know. They then get to perform heroic feats.”
Discovering Matt’s playful side excited Cox. The actor acknowledged that the tone was different, but he felt that it gave him more freedom to explore the character while still “keeping in line” with Daredevil.
In light of the fact that She-Hulk is not the first time Daredevil has been given a “silly and goofy” spin, he also addressed the #NotMyDaredevil trend’s detractors.
While some people might mistake Matt Murdock for being wholly serious, the actor is well aware that Matt Murdock’s lighter side has long been depicted in Marvel’s Daredevil comics.
Lastly, Cox provided a fantastic response to She-Hulk detractors:
“You won’t ever be able to satisfy everyone. You shouldn’t watch She-Hulk if that’s not your thing. something else to watch.”
What Will Daredevil Do in the MCU?
Fans won’t see Daredevil for the last time after She-Hulk because Daredevil: Born Again, which is highly anticipated, will premiere in 2024.
With Michael Gandolfini joining the cast, Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Vincent D’Onofrio (Kingpin) are scheduled to make a comeback. Along with this, there have been rumors that Sandrine Holt and Margarita Levieva have joined the cast. Fans also anticipate the return of Elden Henson’s beloved character Foggy Nelson.
Unfortunately, there is still no word on Henson’s potential return. However, there is plenty of room for the character to return given that the first season of the show had a record-breaking 18 episodes, more than any other Disney+ original.
Given the excitement surrounding the project, Gandolfini’s contract even includes a promise for a second season, which won’t surprise fans. Born Again was already selected as The Direct’s most eagerly awaited Phase 5 draught project, even though it was still in its early stages.
Marvel is taking its time with the reboot, which will be a relief to those who are sick of the constrained streaming strategy Disney+ has so far promoted. It is clear that Marvel has big plans for Hells Kitchen’s resident hero.
Those sighs of relief will be made stronger by Andor’s acceptance. It appears that Daredevil’s lengthy episode run will enable it to emulate the Star Wars show’s strengths of taking its time with its characters and story arcs.
