A Marvel Studios official has stated that MCU fans should anticipate more horror films and Disney+ shows in the future.
This builds upon what viewers have seen in Phase 4 of the MCU, particularly Werewolf by Night, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even portions of Moon Knight.
The blade is scheduled to start filming in May, and Marvel Studios implies that monsters and magic are here to stay now that Phase 5 is in full swing.

More Teasers from Marvel Studios MCU Scare
On the D23: Inside Disney podcast, Marvel Studios Vice President of Production and Development Stephen Broussard hinted at upcoming horror-themed MCU movies, saying:
If I have anything to do with it, Marvel will continue exploring the horror genre’s darker side.
Paul Bettany’s unexpected success in the MCU was brought up when Broussard was questioned about the Werewolf by Night Marvel Studios Special Presentation from last October and whether it relates to Phase 5. He said, “Everything is possible in the MCU:”
“Everything is conceivable in the MCU, is the answer. The illustration I like to use is Paul Bettany, who did a fantastic job as the voice of JARVIS in “Iron Man” even though it was simply a robot’s voice. Years later, he is nominated for an Emmy for his role as Vision in this sitcom dissection. I never would have said that it was even somewhat possible if you had asked me then if we would still be there today.
The Marvel Studios executive admitted that Werewolf By Night was meant to be a “one-off Christmas special,” even though that wasn’t a “no.”
Yet, he also believes that its characters, such as Man-Thing, are “too cool to leave behind,” and he wants Marvel to keep delving into “the horror-verse” and its “darker side”:
“The Christmas special was created as a one-time experiment in style with our good friend Michael Giacchino. But come on, with those characters. They’re to hip to abandon. Marvel will continue exploring the darker side of the horror genre if I have anything to do with it. There are so many fantastic characters from that realm in comic books. As you noted, Laura did a great job portraying Elsa. Gael Garcia Bernal is my favorite. He has always had a lot of my support. People were quite interested in his friendship with Ted, a.k.a. Man-Thing. There are amazing people there as well as a fantastic universe and setting.”
In his final remarks, Broussard discussed how “location as a character” is used in the MCU and said that such “darker areas” are “worth exploring:”
If you look at the work I’ve done individually here, you’ll see that I’m a huge admirer of, say, place as character. The darker reaches of the Marvel universe, whether they are in the TVA or the magical realm, feel just as rich and intriguing.
The producer of Werewolf by Night, Brian Gay, previously told The Direct that the Disney+ special pulled “back the corner of the MCU” and that these monsters would “show up again.” These claims are corroborated by Gay’s comments.
When More Marvel Monsters Will Arrive
Marvel Studios is not new to experimenting with genres, but what makes these assertions intriguing is that they show the horror subgenre is here to stay.
The most likely candidates for Marvel Studios to return monsters and horror-related elements right now are Blade and perhaps Agatha: Coven of Chaos.
Nevertheless, as Broussard put it, “everything is possible” now that the MCU is diving headfirst into the Multiverse.
Also, there’s a chance that future Marvel Studios Special Presentations, which have been successful so far, will be expanded.
In the months to come, perhaps, fans will learn more about the studio’s ambitions for Marvel’s monsters and upcoming projects.
