Captain Marvel 2’s Heroines Will Be “Smart” But “Troublesome,” According To Star

The Marvel trio may have superpowers, but that doesn’t mean they’re not still human, says the Captain Marvel 2 star.

In the years since 2019’s Captain Marvel, which served as the MCU’s first female-led film, Marvel Studios has been higher, farther, and faster in releasing more female-led films. Examples include Black Widow, WandaVision, Ms. Marvel, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and She-Hulk.

So Marvel Studios may or may not be happy with Brie Larson’s next MCU chapter featuring an all-female cast of characters.

Deona Parris, who conducted an interview with the cast of The Marvels before the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike began, described the film’s central trio as “smart, funny, and resourceful” but described them as “troublesome” in one interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“I’m excited to see the MCU have three female leads who are all badass in their own right and come from completely different backgrounds. It’s going to be very interesting to see these smart, entertaining, brilliant, troubled girls find their way.

Deonna Paris made her Marvel debut as Monica Rambeau in 2021’s WandaVision, but her character has already appeared in 2019’s Captain Marvel as the young daughter of Carol Danvers’ close friend Maria Rambeau in the MCU.

It’s a secret that grown-up Parisian Monica is having trouble with her missing Aunt Carol; These concerns are expected to be addressed in The Marvels.

Speaking of trouble, Javeh Ashton, who plays the Kree rebel Dar-Benn in the film, is one of the female cast of The Marvels.

Ashton was “very passionate” about including women in front of and behind the camera, like Nia DaCosta, the director of Captain Marvel 2.

This sci-fi scene features only women, and there is a woman on the opposite side of the camera. Being a part of this really moved me. Lots of fierce women and Samuel L. You don’t often find yourself in a big-budget movie with Jackson. It just doesn’t happen.

2022 Ms. Making her MCU debut at Marvel, Iman Vellani, who rounded out The Marvel team-up, gave further insight into the depth and believability of the film’s characters: “real flaws and real arcs:”

“We’re very lucky to have so many female characters with real flaws and compelling stories. Time and time again, these stories not only generate so many fans, but they also generate sales.”

While breaking new boundaries and showcasing women on and off the screen makes history, what audiences remember and relate to is the story of the personal struggles of three imperfect and real people.

MCU stories are at their best when the stakes and importance of the humanity of the heroes equal or exceed their superhuman abilities and climactic fights.

As the women on Captain Marvel 2 team are described as “finding their way” but with “flaws”, Nia DaCosta seems to be the exact target of the movie.

While the movie’s success won’t be known until November, it’s important to note that Marvel Studios has plans to develop more female leads.

Ironheart and Agatha: Coven of Chaos will soon appear alongside Alaqua Cox’s Echo, which will debut on Disney+ on November 29.

The Marvels hits theaters on Friday, November 10.
