A subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe movie will serve as a prequel to 2021’s Black Widow, according to Marvel Studios CEO Andy Park.
Sadly, the MCU slates for Phases 5 or 6 did not include a sequel to the Scarlett Johansson-led solo film focused on Black Widow. The Art of Black Widow book’s release, however, has brought the subject some fresh attention.
A sequel to the 2021 movie felt like a rather difficult option because it would either need to be another prequel narrative or not feature Johansson’s role because Natasha Romanoff was one of the few seemingly irreversible deaths in Avengers: Endgame.
BlackWidow fans have recently learned some fascinating details about the future of their favorite spies.

Will a Black Widow 2 be released?
Marvel Studios Director of Visual Development Andy Park stated that BlackWidow would get a sort of sequel with the 2024 Thunderbolts movie in an Instagram post promoting the new Art of Black Widow book.
“It’s like it’s a BlackWidow sequel & these movies are connected or something,” writes Park in the description of the photo. Then he mocked, saying, “It’s about to get interesting:
“The back cover of the wraparound cover I created for THE ART OF BLACK WIDOW is seen here. Get a copy right away! In the forthcoming THUNDERBOLTS movie, Taskmaster, the Red Guardian, Yelena, AND Valentina Allegra de Fontaine will all be back. It’s as if this is a BlackWidow sequel and these two films are connected in some way;) It will get intriguing.”
The characters Taskmaster, Red Guardian, Yelena Belova, and Valentina Allegra de Fontaine that Park claimed would be seen in the 2024 film were already known to fans.
Although Park’s apparent Black Widow concentration is fresh information, it was completely unknown prior to this article which characters and plots would be preferred over others in Thunderbolts.
What Kind of Story Will the Thunderbolts Have?
While Andy Park withheld any specific narrative details, it is noteworthy that the two films will be “linked,” with the final product acting as a “Black Widow sequel.”
This would imply that the four Black Widow characters that are confirmed to appear in Thunderbolts will take center stage in the 2024 film. Yelena seems to be preparing to assume the role of Black Widow after making an appearance in Hawkeye and developing a friendship with Kate Bishop, the most recent bearer of the Hawkeye moniker. Fans may anticipate seeing that in Thunderbolts.
Many people also criticized Taskmaster’s tale in Black Widow as being unimpressive, unoriginal, and out of touch with comics. This may indicate that the already-confirmed Thunderbolts member will have a more interesting backstory.
In essence, the anticipation for the 2024 Thunderbolts film has grown even higher for Black Widow fans.
