Actor of Iron Fist Responds to Reports That Marvel Doesn’t Want Him Back

Despite rumors that Marvel Studios doesn’t want Finn Jones to reprise the role of Iron Fist, he has provided some fresh perspectives on doing so.

Iron Fist was the most polarising of the Marvel Netflix series; it is frequently cited as an illustration of the worst of the worst.

However, many have questioned whether all of the Netflix characters will eventually make a comeback now that Charlie Cox is back as Daredevil. Whether Danny Rand is included in that discussion is a common question that arises.

Given the popularity of the show, there are rumors going around the internet that Marvel Studios doesn’t want Jones to reprise his role as Iron Fist.

Iron Fist himself, Finn Jones, recently expressed his desire for another opportunity to be the “best possible Iron Fist there could be.”

Derek Cornell of DisInsider reported that “[he heard] they’re not bringing Finn Jones back for Iron Fist,” which is the specific rumor.

But how realistic is that?

Finn Jones, who plays Iron Fist, discussed the possibility of reprising his superhero role in an interview with Geekscape. He also addressed rumors that Marvel didn’t want him back.

The actor responded, “Of course [he] would,” when asked if he would reprise the part in the same way that Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio did with their respective roles as Daredevil and Kingpin.

The actor vehemently refuted assertions that Marvel Studios does not want him to reprise his role as Danny Rand, saying that “[he] loves the ability to prove someone wrong.”

Additionally, Jones stated emphatically that he is confident in his ability to “give the Danny Rand performance that fans want and I know is possible:”

“I would, of course! I’d adore another opportunity… I’m very concerned about [Danny Rand]. I have faith in that person, and I think there is a lot of work to be done. Something allures us to underdogs. I adore stories about underdogs. I adore being able to disprove someone. And I want to disprove every single one of those skeptics. I have confidence in my ability to deliver the Danny Rand performance that I know the audience wants to see.”

Charlie Cox was then brought up, and Jones expressed his excitement to see him portray that character once more on screen.

“However, I’m over the moon that Charlie [Cox] is back at work. He’s going to play Daredevil once more, and I think he’s perfect for the role. I can’t wait to see him play that role once more.”

Jones continued by expressing his desire to “see a Heroes for Hire series,” but he is adamant that Colleen Wing, played by Jessica Henwick, should “still be the Iron Fist”:

“In my opinion, I would dearly love to return. But I believe it would need to be done in a way that is both creative and compelling from a story perspective. I’ve been considering this, and I believe that a Heroes for Hire television series would be really cool. That’s how you get him back. However, Colleen [Wing] would also return and continue to serve as the Iron Fist. You know, it doesn’t have to be a Shang-Chi sequel; it could be any Marvel property. She should be holding that fist and making an appearance. The biggest films should absolutely feature Colleen as Iron Fist. She deserves it and deserves praise for doing it.”

The actor then suggested that after “seasons of television and films,” Danny and Luke’s Heroes for Hire, “those characters [would] come back together in a dynamic and real way.”

“And I would adore it if she attended such an event before Danny and Luke [Cage] appeared on their own show. The characters later reunite in a compelling and genuine way over the course of television and movie seasons. Danny is able to find redemption thanks to it. Colleen and Iron Fist can enjoy their private moment as a result. That seems the most imaginative to me. It is all present. Every possibility exists.”

Jones emphasized that “[he’s simply] a fan of the characters” and is an “audience member” like everyone else to make his point:

“Here’s how to approach it: Man, I’m just a fan. I love the stories and the characters, especially Finn. For the sake of argument, ignore my acting ego. I believe what I just said is the best way to bring back all these characters in a way that makes everyone happy as a viewer, as someone who loves Iron Fist and loves Danny Rand and wants to see their representation in film and television.”

Will Finn Jones ever come back?

In all honesty, it’s probably best if he doesn’t take on the position again. Considering that the actor “didn’t want to train” for their stunt sequences, Iron Fist stunt coordinator Brett Chan revealed last year that this was the case.

Jones is the only possible candidate, despite the fact that he isn’t specifically mentioned, given the context.

Finn Jones doesn’t deserve the role, period, if he truly didn’t want to train for his scenes as the Iron Fist, a master of hand-to-hand combat. Even more so than himself, he appears to care more that Colleen Wing retains the title role.

No other actors from the Netflix era have been confirmed to return, aside from Cox and D’Onofrio. However, there have been numerous rumors about both Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones on both occasions.

The yet-to-be-announced Shang-Chi sequel would be the ideal place to reintroduce Iron Fist to the public, whether that be through Finn Jones or a new actor entirely.
