Actor Announces Spectacular Spider-Man Season 3 And Future Plans

Josh Keaton, who plays Peter Parker in the animated series, has revealed what the third season (and more) of The Spectacular Spider-Man will include.

The much-loved show was canceled in 2009, but for viewers who loved it, it lives on. That persistence paid off with a one-off cameo in the newly released Across the Spider-Verse.

Countless viewers’ memories of the canceled show were rekindled by watching their favorite web title. It’s hard not to speculate on what might have happened if Disney’s acquisition of Marvel hadn’t put the project on hold.

Josh Keaton, the star of the canceled Spectacular Spider-Man TV series, revealed during a TikTok livestream what the show’s future plans are for season 3 and beyond.

According to Keaton, the upcoming season will cover “Peter’s year out of high school” and the fifth and final season “after he graduates:”

“Greg [Weissman] planned to do five seasons. The first season focused on Peter’s senior year in high school and the ending when he gets his degree from him. He then planned to adapt the Spider-Man stories and make Spider-Man-themed movies ripe.

Additionally, the star named all the characters that will play a major role in the show’s trailer, such as Carnage, Sin-Eater, Hobgoblin, and others:

“…Season 2 offered many people’s perspectives. You know, you saw Gene DeWolf, Stan Carter, and Morris Bench (Hydro-Man). Hobart Brown (The Prowler/The Hornet), Cletus Cassady, and Roderick Kingsley (Hobgoblin), among others.

The tragedy that The Spectacular Spider-Man was canceled

Most fans were saddened when The Spectacular Spider-Man came to an abrupt end, as there was no end to his promise. To make matters worse, Josh Keaton was quickly recast and made into a Spidey companion animated series.

Perhaps the renewed interest in Keaton’s Spidey is enough to kickstart a proper sequel. After all, Spidey and His Amazing Friends, which is designed exclusively for young children, don’t have an animated Spider-Man project currently running.

Who wouldn’t want to see what Carnage was like in that world? Or a new version of Sin-Eater, a villain that hasn’t gotten much attention.

While Rebirth is unlikely, Josh Keaton’s Spider-Man could at least have a bigger role beyond the Spider-Verse.

If you haven’t seen The Spectacular Spider-Man or heard the great theme song from it, you can watch the entire series on Disney+.
